Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel cannot afford to miss another technology shift

Intel completely missed the smartphone/Internet 2.0 revolution 10-12 years ago, which coincidentally was the start of Intel's long, slow decline to irrelevance. Now it's on the verge of missing another technology shift to the metaverse/omniverse/Internet 3.0 as it cannot compete with Nvidia which is light years ahead and even AMD and QCOM that are performing much better of late, and Intel is in much worse position than it was 10-12 years ago. Unlike last time, the decline will happen sooner rather than later and the company's collapse to complete irrelevance will be swift within the next 10 or even 5 years.

Intel hope of returning to market leader is only feasible when all competitors are failing to advance in next 2-3 years. Hope these companies sc--w up big time for Intel to have the opportunities to catch up
Else, another scenario Intel PG hope is China PLA invades Taiwan and make TSMC loose its business due to national security concern for most countries
I don't see other scenario where Intel have immediate advantages to overlap its competitors

Much Intel's competitiveness in the metaverse will depend on DG2 (Arc Alchemist), whether it'll be competitive with NV/AMD discrete GPUs, or the same old broken driver that only looks good on 3DMarks but a joke running real games.

If DG2 falls on its face I'm guess Raja's days are numbered.

Haha, Intel cannot even architect or design the best solution for last decade’s technology, Intel CPU is literally worst in class right now. How could they possibly even compete in emerging technologies?

Intel is finished, they could go the way of IBM\GM or easily end up like Kodak, right now if they continue their push on IDM, IFS and Product they will end up like Kodak, spin off fabs and focus, give them a 1 in 3 to stay revelant.

Too many arrogant destiny believing managers from the old days
