Most of the contractors in our division were all cut on 11/30. About 10 of them.

Not aware of the 12/31 end of M&I funding? Majority of the contractors were M&I funded as part of the FD acquisition activities.
Which divisions lost contractors?
The financials must be terrible to be cutting contractors so soon into the quarter.
All those negatives were learned over time and at bitter experience. The first year is fine and contract employment is always a risk - accept that if you want. Fiserv made it really cushy but over the years, promises such as going perm did not materialize. The OLD Fiserv was a fine place to work in many ways. No so today.
Why join in the first place with all those negatives?
I was a contract worker for a number of years and they are the easiest to have on staff and then dispense with. No guarantee of nothing ever. Low paid and no paid leave, though unlimited time off. If you want to can them, do nothing when contract expires and they vanish. Fiserv supposed to make them perm after 1 year. Never happened. Salary increase? HA!!! So in what area does not matter much. ( I chose to get out precisely 2 years ago before First Data really began it's invasion, a wise move).
In what area?
