Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Do ExxonMobil rehire?

Former KLTC employee here, I left exxon in 2019 and thinking of rejoining as I see related job opening?

Do anyone know if exxon rehire?

My experience: 10 Year, DevOps skillset, was CL 25 when I left.

Thanks P

Yes. Know several over the course of last 10 years who were hired back in US.

Yes, they will rehire the right candidate based upon being a good fit.

I had a friend who quit to basically start up a new business in the oilfield but not an EM competitor. After 2 years he wanted to come back. He was hired as a contractor for a year first, then as an employee. That was dictated by the VP of the group (US based), the hiring manager etc wanted a straight full hire. They are still with the company.

Who are you OP? I can check with KLTC management whether you are regrettable or non-regrettable resignation

Yes, they do, and are benevolent, equitable and fair about it.

I presume that you were paid in MYR (Malaysian Ringgit), while working in KLTC previously?
From the forex standpoint, I think that you’d be better off just crossing the border, down south to Singapore, to work for EM Singapore in any of the large world-scale Refining, Lubes and Chemical complex in Jurong Island, or Pioneer Road there … and earn your salary in SGD (Singapore Dollars) which is 3+ times that of the MYR!
Save all the SGD that you will earn and bring it back to Malaysia, to live like the rich and famous, when you retire!

I left for 15 years and then they contacted me to come back. Then I spent another 15 years working there before I had my fill. So yes, if you left on good terms and have a skill set they urgently need, you will be welcomed back.

Yes, they do rehire.
My colleague returned on 1st Nov, he left for 6 months and then returned.

@xpp+1dW4x0YY I don’t think EM would miss you. Leave or are you just being snarky. Too scared no one else would hitter you. It’s HILARIOUS the people that bad mouth EM but don’t leave. 🤔😏🤣

OP - Given the exxodus and generally tarnished brand image, XOM is desperate and most likely happy to have former employees join back.

My question - Who in their right mind would want to go back to that toxic culture and cesspool of a company?

If you are marked as regrettable attrition then yes you can rejoin. I know few who joined after leaving company for different reasons.

I left after 26 years for a similar position with another O&G corp. Stayed with them for 5 years and was vested there. Former colleague from XOM called me up and said that I left so quietly that my name was still being circulated for a position in a new op. Came back on with full prior service time. Just now retiring with 33 years credited service toward pension. May not happen for everyone, but when I came back onboard I knew what to expect. My transition back was easier than experienced hires as I had originally started with company at 21 yoa and had an early version of the chip still implanted.

They do as long as you were a regrettable loss. If you left on your own then likely they might want you back.

No they don't and why the he-l would you want to come back. I left my perfect job back 2013 and came to exxon for the money. Now my former company pays just as much if not more and has better perks. 9/80 and flex work schedule. The best of all no PIPing and you can work as long as you like. I left bonus pay and great medical insurance. I have many regrets for coming back.
