Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

telecom increased competition

5g is a joke with no real application for major profits. marketing has not invented a new product in about 10 years. $15 stock price incoming, wait for the divey cut -which i stated about 5 years ago, everything i foresaw has come true. find a new place to work, because this place can even get worse and thats hard to believe

MCI comments are glaringly inaccurate. Like much of what’s stated here.

The plan was simple. Buy DirecTV for the subscriber base. Use that base to get cheaper deals on content. Shift the delivery to streaming to avoid the huge expense of launching and maintaining satellites.

In the meantime, buy Time Warner. Game of Thrones plus Sunday Ticket means people will be paying extra for mobile data. The real profit was supposed to come from charging people for the text messages they sent each other about their shows.

Seriously though. The NFL taking a knee for the national anthem pushed enough people away from DTV and Sunday Ticket to destroy our strategy. You can back them all you want, but why aren't recent immigrants having the same problems with racism holding them back?

That dividend percentage keeps rising, only because (recently) of the decline in stock price. The 'actual' dividend per share has not been increased for around 2 years.

That is a definite similarity to MCI Worldcom.

But don't forget, MCI Worldcom basically only owned one microwave route and almost everything else they sold, was resold from local exchange companies and inter-exchange companies that actually owned and maintained all of the facilities and equipment.

MCI Worldcom was basically just a re-seller and nothing more, coutesy of Judge Greene. They made virtually no investment in facilities or right-of-way or last mile, they were just a re-seller. The public was duped into thinking MCI Worldcom was an actual service provider.

BUT, I have to admit that even though there is ZERO basis to compare an actual service providing company to a re-seller, if the dividend percentage starts to creep up (due to more stock price decline) to around the 12-13% range there will definitely start to be a lot of comparisons to the MCI Worldcom downfall by people who have no understanding of the business.

So you've been kicked to the curb by most every telco, big deal. I know more about the WorldCom fiasco than you think. Keep cheerleading for Stankey, maybe you can stay at T, then again history may repeat itself!

As a former Verizon/Worldcom and MCI—Ameritech/SBC and ATT employee, it’s obvious you know little about the Worldcom story….

Well ok, I agree, WorldCom was a much better managed company than T. Always remember, T is living off the fat created over the past 125 years. This is the main difference and also why T is still in business.

Either you’re woefully ignorant or you’re purposefully attempting to mislead….Worldcom’s demise doesn’t look remotely like T.

You should be running a company instead of posting anonymously on this forum.

Economic forecasting, a known method to determine things like future prosperity or patterns….and I’m going to go out on a limb and say that, that is probably not your forte. Further, since you’ve a 5 year track record of predicting the future; I wonder why you’re still here….and not sitting on a beach sipping an adult beverage. Just saying…..Oh, and your inability to use punctuation and appropriately capitalize is pretty telling also.

Haven't you heard, CFO said company has a "brand" problem. Another underhanded way to say it is the customer's fault for not recognizing Stankey's BS strategy.

nothing like buying a satellite tv company and launch one satellite and then announce you are not launching anymore.

WTH?

its a dying company. has been on a slow death spiral since about 2012 - 2013. buying innovation has never worked it has to be organic. could of done a lot of home grown innovation with uverse instead of buying direct tv. stank is a rich mo--n unfortunately. number one problem with america today.
