Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Additional benefit cuts

There is more and more talk about how it is very likely that this will happen. I don’t want to claim anything, but I personally believe that rumor could come true. Does anyone perhaps have more detailed information on whether they will decide to cut additional benefits? I'm sick of this company.

No changes until 12/31 when the discount goes bye-bye! Binge watch during December so you will be caught up on all your favorite shows!

The internal employee discounts website for video options seem inconsistent, one part says "no changes yet" and another part (when you follow the "Video" link as far as you can) says the DTV discount ends 12/31, does anyone know which one should be believed?

I cannot stand the HR Org. Santone, Anthony, and the like are phony and condescending. It's disgusting. They are consistently asked direct questions in these stupid town halls, and they are condescending or provide the standard non answers. Hot take: The same questions are being asked because people aren't getting a straight answer. And the sychophants that rah rah this company are also ridiculous. They are either stupid, naive, or at worst believe that bs will get them ahead. The only way you get movement in this company is if you fit a profile and it makes the company demos look good. I'm not saying people don't deserve it (because these are mostly competent people who are smart), but how many of us have gotten a new boss that has no idea of the line of business they were hired into when there were qualified people that were overlooked because they didn't fit a profile? This slows things down, and when they do get a handle on the line of business, they move on.

"We made the company what it is" - Then you are the problem.
"We made the company what it was" - Sorry for what they've done with what you built.

I’d rather see debt lowered by reducing headcount rather than reducing or cutting our benefits package! It will be difficult to attract college grads.

AT&T has to lower the debt. They can’t continue to fund senior employee bloat:

For those of you motivated to retire this year to be eligible for pre-65 medical subsidy ... the company can stop those benefits once you have retired ... are you ready for that?

I think it's a goal in HR, each year to chip away at one thing every year, be it insurance cost, time off, retiree benefits. So sad that retiree's have to make the cost of employee's health insurance cost. We made the company what it is.

What a vague and meaningless post. "There is more and more talk about how it is very likely that this will happen"

Try harder.

Any difference in 401k Match between union and management?

I am hearing 401k match will stop, our portions of healthcare rose so I am sure that was a cut as well, they will keep pecking away at all of it, until the debt is under control the only thing they can cut are active and retired benefits, very sad for sure, but I am leaving in 2 weeks after 35 years so really don't care anymore :)

Union employees pay about 40% of your monthly premiums. The company “picks up” the 60%. As a self insured employer they really don’t pay premiums. Under 65 retirees pay 60% of the premiums. Expect the employee and retiree percentage to increase at every opportunity. Management in many areas pay the full premium each month.

I don't have any details, but you can bet on it. After all, we are talking Stankey and Santone, nothing or no one is safe.
