Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Lightning Platinum almost $90k

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum is one of four available trims for the electrified pickup and starts out at $89,874 before the current $7,500 tax credit or $82,374 with the credit.

Ford will lose a number of F-150 buyers at this price. Remember for is also pushing for $12,500 tax credit. Not sure why taxpayers fund EV’s.

The nightmare continues.

I am sorry but I am tired on the fact we pay people to buy these vehicles. If the vehicle is so great let it stand on its own merit. I don't care if it is aimed at a different customer segment. At that price if they can afford it then why do we tax payers have to subsidize them? Sick of the freebies we squander away. Maybe you run your household like that? I don't!

Just like lightning doesn't strike twice, Ford Lightning buyers will be "one and done."

The Lightning in base trim carries an MSRP just under $40,000.

The higher price isn't because its a better product or appealing to green buyers that simply want to pay more as some sort of virtue signaling lol.

Everything from the cells to pack to battery management to drive inverters to tires are still an early platform compared to other companies that have been improving every piece for the past 10 years. It's expensive because its inefficient and costs tons more kW capacity to even be viable compared to competitors.

@1nwx+1dXITNpo "the Lightning is aimed at a different, more trendy customer that can afford it"

It is aimed to the gullible green masses, ready to save the planet by doing more mining to get the minerals for the batteries, burning more coal to charge the BEV, and dumping more toxic materials in our soils. Of course, these gullible masses are willing to also save (inadvertently) those "poor" automotive corporations by paying through their noses, even if that means signing loans beyond 84 months. Who knows? At those prices, it is cheaper to buy a home than to have 2 cars.

"Common sense is not so common" Voltaire.

I think the Lightning is aimed at a different, more trendy customer that can afford it. Hope so!

That'll go over well in the financials.
