Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Florida mandate exceptions

Wells Fargo will be in violation of recently passed legislation in Florida if it does not provide the required vaccine mandate exemptions. Demand they follow the law and allow people to opt out. There is currently no federal mandate that overrides this legislation. Time to push back is now.

I can almost assure you it wont be around past 2023. I can list at least 6 others that won't be as well. We have done the same thing to other sites. Move jobs from one smaller city or site to a larger one, then moving those jobs to other areas instead. I'm sure not saying it for a scare tactic. The nine hubs mentioned above are the nine hubs for our future.

I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong, but over the past several years jobs have moved from California to Utah. If they weren't planning on keeping SLC open, why wouldn't they move those jobs to other states?

You are correct that on the past SLC was never listed as a hub. I don't remember the new terminology, but SLC is included in the new location strategy. You only need to search this site (let alone internal sites if you have the proper access) to see it's listed. I will view your information as an attempt to help rather than scare based on subsequent posts, but unless you know something is a fact, please post context so as not to frighten people unnecessarily.

Based on the information available to me, I'm 95% confident that SLC will not be disappearing anytime soon.

Salt Lake City is going to have the same thing happen that happened to us. First departments start with hiring freezes while the same jobs appear in Manila, India or the 9 hubs. Then the ones they want to keep get moved then finally comes the building closing.

When did Salt Lake City become a hub? Hint - it didn't and isn't. San Francisco, Denver, Chandler AZ, Texas -Dallas eventually, St Louis, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Charlotte, and NY. Those are the 9 hubs. There are only those 9.

Source? Salt Lake City is a hub location. So unless you have proof that it's going to change, stop trying to scare people.

He's fully vaccinated (had his shots on TV). He may well be stupid but not stupid enough to remain unvaccinated in Florida.

Time is almost up for the Utah locations anyway.

what WF has instituted is not a mandate and they aren't requiring you to get vaccinated. They are requiring you to show proof of vaccine and if you fail to do so or indicate your aren't vaccinated then you are required to test. you are not going to lose your job for not being vaccinated. now if you have lied in any way shape or form or fail to provide said documents or comply with testing then you are subject to corrective action which is a policy issue but no where has wells fargo indicated in this action that the vaccine is mandatory.

Ok, the Florida law allows for exceptions, but also allows the employer to require testing (at no cost to the employee) of exempted employees. Therefore, Wells Fargo's policy is in compliance of Florida law.

In Utah, our exemption law also forbids companies from obtaining proof of vaccination. I've assume that's why I didn't get the email yesterday that everyone was talking about.

Is it terrible to wish for DeSantis to come down with Covid and spend some time on a ventilator? Maybe a little time alone and unconscious in an ICU room would help him to put life in perspective, and place people’s health above his own career.

I get that anti vaxxers are desperate for something to hang their hats on but you should probably do some research before getting too excited. DeSantis is just another fool fighting the culture wars but most of what he tries fails in court.

U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rogers rejected Florida’s request for a temporary restraining order or injunction that would block the federal vaccine rule—set to go into effect December 6—while the state’s lawsuit moves forward.

Florida sued the Biden administration last week challenging the constitutionality of the vaccine policy, which requires vaccinations for all healthcare workers in facilities that participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Illegal to mandate the vaccine in FL-so far. As in - they can't force you to have the shot. They do however offer no such protections for companies that require users to report their vaccination status or face administrative action. So is firing anyone who misreported PTO, misreported their vax status, or who might have forged any paperwork to get around it. That too, is legal.

@aqk+1dYTr71K, it's not a hub, so it'll be pulling out anyways.

@cfo+1dYTr71K if you had an once of intelligence, you would be able to see the fallacy of your argument. If a specific group is disparately targeted (usually a minority or female), civil penalties kick in. In this case, if the law says it's illegal to mandate the vaccine, and you fire people for random issues, you will be paying out. Not unusual for someone like yourself to think at-will means no repercussions for failing to follow the law.

I'm not sure the FL mandate laws allow opt-out of testing. Interesting that those jabbed can still as easily, and some say more, spread the virus, but require no testing, and that they aren't taking natural immunity into account. So they are as unscientific as this whole thing has been.

@zyy+1dYTr71K typical tyrant behavior. You're going to pull business out of a state that no doubt is substantial to WF's bottom line because you can't force people to do what you want.

Or maybe we just pull those jobs from Florida and send them somewhere else. And Florida is a conditional employment state as well, so if they require you to report vax status - whish isn't illegal - and they catch that you've been dishonest in using PTO, reporting your vax status, etc - you're done anyway. All of that above is legal.
