I have made my decision to leave EM after 12 years. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, nor was it something decided overnight. I just decided I don’t want to face everyday age discrimination, micromanagement, being told I’m not doing my job well etc… I am not going to do it unwisely. I will wait for an opportunity to arise.
I see a lot of people ,whose positions are not tightly tied to O&G are leaving for jobs in other industries.
That’s my dilemma. On one side I will definitely land a job more easily in some of the competing companies, on the other side it looks like it is pretty much the same sh-t show at other companies in this business.
I would appreciate some advice from people who left. If there aren’t any, some good opinions will also do.

O&G is still the way to go I think. Just try literally any other company.
like other poster said go outside of O&G... just not worth it anymore...
This industry is declining, no matter how much some hate to hear it. I am also looking for a job outside of O&G. Some of my friends have found much better paid jobs after years of experience in this industry. They are happier and wealthier.
