On the plus side, it’s not that bad because I quickly learned some new things that could help me get a better job somewhere else faster. However, wearing multiple hats over multiple months literally burned me out. For a long time now, none of my colleagues have been doing just the job they are paid for. Is there anyone here who only does their job and not a job that should actually be done by several people?

Wearing multiple hats as well. It’s a mix of pointless departments that don’t do anything constructive & useless employees on the teams that are busy - so the managers shovel all the extra work on the competent ones, rather than mediating the situation.
We have more than Microsoft Teams! We have had multiple organization restructurings. You have no idea how long it takes to come up with new titles for the managers that have no effect on actual work progress. You have no idea how long we drag our feet before we decide to not promote from within. It is very hard and it hurts when we have to give up and hire a stranger for a management role, but there are no alternatives.
On a serious note. I am surrounded by individual contributors that volunteer to work on projects and get denied for various reasons. I know many individual contributors that have had their work load slowly eroded over the last couple years. I know many individual contributors that are on the brink of exhaustion due to being overworked.
I feel like one way or another, we will see a reduction in force.
@OP+1dasDmdZ I hope that translates into a good job for you somewhere. I know it can be difficult to translate tasks not related to your role into a meaningful data points on a resume.
No, that's pretty typical around here for the past few years. It's not even that there aren't enough people, it's just that half the people are in obscure departments not actually contributing anything to any sort of production. Heck, two years into digital transformation and we still only have Microsoft Teams.
