Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Irrational decisions

Has this become a company of irrational decisions? Moving jobs to New Jersey is not the only such decision of our leadership, unfortunately. We no longer see moves that I would say are rational, well thought out and that will bring some benefit to the employees, on whom, in the end, everything depends.

You must be extremely naive or a mo--n. There are centers of knowledge in each of these locations that will take decades to replace. Meanwhile Fiserv products and clients will suffer. I’m not betting on any Jersey shore newbies to rock the world.

What's not rational is spending what was probably millions of dollars building a state of the art building in Beaverton that accommodated hundreds of employees just to permanently close it two years later. Employees were told at the time of closure they would be full time remote just to have that taken back. New building, to remote positions to relocation in the span of a couple years. Sounds like executives are the irrational ones with no sense of leadership or direction. They change their mind as often as they change their underwear without concern to how it effects employees.

what is irrational about shutting down sites with 50 or fewer associates in cities no one will ever visit

The last 18 months of Pandemic has changed how businesses work.

We just proved that we can all work remotely and be productive.

Frank is trying to move us back to how companies worked in the 80s while other companies in the space (FIS, PNC to name a few) are embracing WFH.

Yes, the new office building is literally two point four miles away from Frank's house. Think that's an exaggeration? Put the office location of '100 Connell Drive Berkeley Heights, NJ' into google maps.

Then spend 7 seconds on google finding the CEO's address. I won't post it here, but the town is Watchung, NJ.

Do 'Get directions' - it's a six minute drive.

People say he will continue to work in Manhattan, but who knows? A six minute drive in New Jersey must be hard to resist.

I wonder, how does this pass the 'conflict of interest' ethics standard? How does it get by the board? shrugs

Good cases can be made for closing offices, consolidating product lines but pushing highly skilled in many cases irreplaceable persons out after WFH has been proven to work is foolish. Very shortly the management team will answer for these actions as the market speaks. We already have evidence in 3rd qtr contracts signings that's just the tip of the iceberg. 90's style management..

We know nothing said here will change leaderships execution FD 2.0.

First data has a history of moving HQs close to where the current CEO lives. That’s how they got to Denver and NYC. Frank lives in that part of NJ

Tell me what is irrational about shutting down sites with 50 or fewer associates in cities no one will ever visit and then creating large, modern campuses where employees can have a great lifetime career and serve our clients best. How is that irrational?
