Has anyone gone through the new medical accommodation request to remain working from home? How did it work? Were you successful or not?

Seriously, just get vaccine… jeez
Ask your manager. They attended a meeting in Sept and have a side that shows the type of exceptions that will be approved. It's on the workplace website
@1hmt Sounds like it’s a good thing you are behind a keyboard or you might have gotten punched in the face lol.

Considering I had a legitimate medical issue which had me WFH for years before COVID, your attempt at levity (unless it was just plain lack of compassion for all of humanity) falls on deaf ears.
Wait til you grow up to comment again.
@gxy+1dbMKscX. Maybe your request reason is so ridiculous and they are speechless.
@smv+1dbMKscX. How about someone who wears diaper? WFH?
No bet here. They want young, foreign (read cheap) folks anyhow.
Anybody want to take bets that those who have "self-identified" by requesting an RTO exception will be disproportionately represented in the next wave of layoffs.
My accommodation to WFH was approved in a day or two. It will be reassessed in 6 months.
@smv at one of the presentations pregnancy was listed as an example of a reason for medical accommodation for WFH. Not sure that lactating would matter. They will just grant you badge access to the mother’s room.
I see pregnancy and lactating with *** under the accommodations. Has any one been granted either a reserved seat (so no flex seating) or WFH option with either option.
I received a same day denial for my teleworking accommodation request.
The accommodations team is literally overwhelmed with the amount of requests. It’s telling that people don’t want to RTO and are looking for exceptions. If it’s a valid accommodation and it doesn’t harm the business it shouldn’t be denied, but it still doesn’t mean it’s permanent.
In process and the lack of response so far is disturbing.
I have 3 underlying conditions that put me at higher risk and that make mask wearing long term challenging. I completed the form but was told by HR that COVID was NOT going to be part of the equation when making the decision to grant any accommodations. I am taking from that statement i will be denied even a temporary accommodation.
Yes, they get approved in 6 month increments. Need a note from your doctor saying you are at high risk for COVID-19 complications and at this time it just isn't worth the risk if duties can be adequately performed at home.
They will email/call the doctors office to verify that the letter was issued from the office to ensure you actually are a patient.
You can request it through the FAQ page "Our Workplace" on Teamworks
Note that it is ultimately up to several factors like what state you're in and your particular health condition. Cancer, Diabetes, Heart disease, and any kind of lung ailments like COPD, Asthma and autoimmune conditions will most likely be granted. Obesity, high cholesterol or just high blood pressure, not so much.
