Reasons against RTO

What is your reason against RTO?
The biggest reason I would never go back there is the atmosphere. Another reason is that it opens up a greater chance of catching the virus. The third reason is that I could save more by working at home.

I didn’t think WFH would last forever. I knew I would have to go back to the office someday, but I didn’t know it was going to be so stressful.

Once I have to RTO, I will walk into each Sr. Manager's office and remove my mask and cough repeatedly without covering my mouth... may even throw in a totally exposed sneeze or two.

It’s really nice to read that others share the same sentiment as I do re: wfh. I’ve done my job well from home while all this mess goes on. Let those that are productive and want to wfh and NOT be a lab rat, continue to do so. Otherwise, all your messages about caring about our wellbeing is false.

My dog never sits next to me blaring their speakerphone. You're the only person at your desk in the meeting, why are you making everybody listen? Is it that you want us to know you have meetings? We all do, nobody's impressed! Get a headset, for chrissake, the bank will even pay for it for you!

  1. Our office is filthy and old
  2. Dirty cubicles with low walls
  3. Bathrooms constantly over flow and the work floor smells like sewer.
  4. Pointless as even meetings on the same floor are though we expect ect
  5. Price of gas, hr commute
  6. less productivity
  7. watching smokers take unlimited breaks

My top reason - When I work from home, I have a nice smooth bowel movement exactly at 8am. When I work from the office, I sometimes skip a day or two and get backed up.

I think they want RTO for one reason. They want everyone vaccinated. And that is the only leverage they can use to require being vaccinated.

Work/Life balance. Don't have to pay for after or before school care because my child can be picked up and dropped off easily. Easier to work from home. I easily log in earlier or stay later if needed. Can't do that if i have to worry about leaving right at five so i can get my child. Comfortable in my home. No gas/lunch/breakfast costs. Much less pollution with us being off the road-less accidents. Don't have to deal with people around me who were always talking ALL DAY LONG about randomness, distracting others who are trying to work and can't concentrate because of their never-ending babble. If i am sick, i don't have to go home. I can work if i feel up to it, or take a day if i don't. Just easier all around and better for the environment. There is no good reason why we would need to go into the office. EVENTUALLY-ten years from now, five, one, two...we will be working from home. It makes sense. Other companies are leading the way. The bank is falling behind. If they were smart, they would take advantage of this time and what is already working and make the shift they will eventually need to make to stay competitive. If i hear one more exec say the reason why they want us to return is because "WE ARE A WORK IN OFFICE COMPANY", gonna scream. That is NO reason. They know most EVERYONE wants to WFH... but they refuse to budge. This caveman mentality is going to fail them. Who will want to work here when other companies are FUTURE MINDED and not stuck in the past for no good reason?

Agreed with all the reasons stated in the first two posts and in addition to that I don't have to rush to finish work and it lives in my mind. I can work extra or get things done and have a sense of balance in my life. The office has not benefited me since I had my whole team who did operations work in a row. That was 10 years ago. The environment is changed and teams are not colocated. There is no purpose to the office for the vast majority of the roles at the bank.

1) Why do the same job in a cubicle that I can do from home
2) I hate listening to the people on calls around me, chewing ice around me, sneezing and coughing around me
3) Working from home I see my family more
4) Working from home I don't have to fight traffic driving to and from work
5) Working from home makes me a lot more happy doing my job vs being in that cubicle

Multiple reasons

  1. We proved (and upper management even acknowledged) how successful we’ve been wfh
  2. No commute equals more work getting done at home and helps the environment.
  3. Most of us put in headphones and don’t actually work with anyone in the office.
  4. It’s pointless for us to be in the office.
