Do people still retire at AT&T with over 40 years of service .

I have a few people on my team with over 50. It’s crazy to think that I have 25 and I’m working with people that have 30 more years service than me.
I left in ‘18 with 41 years. Most of them were good.
It's the end of an era, no more pensions, but maybe a gold watch if you're lucky!
Retiring with 40+ years was the norm. The new norm will be 3 - 4 years if Stankey gets his way, which you can bet he will.
I retired a week ago with 41 years. I had no plans to leave for a few more years but then they made their benefits announcement. Even if I had decided to give up medical subsidy I would be leaving over the vaccine mandate. I have several peers in my org who are also over 40 years.
I retired with 47 1/2 years. Most of my career was with Southern Bell and Bellsouth. Those were the fun, good days. People treated each other with respect. You were recognized for your accomplishments and rewarded accordingly. It was a time when you were proud of the company you worked for. Nothing has been the same since Bellsouth was gobbled up in 2007. So sad.
Back a long time ago you got hired because a relative got you in. Same thing at Sears, Montgomery Wards and all the long gone retaillers. I was surprised when looking up some co-workers in IT that had 20+ years and same the same uncommon name in the phone listing. When I asked it was their uncle or mother. Doubt that has happened since Whitacre left.

Retired last year with 43 1/2 years!
Yes. It’s a couple in my department right now pushing 45 n counting !

use to be but not anymore. maybe in craft but not management anymore. when the recent ones retire there won't be anymore.
Yes. Some started right after high school. They retire around 62 and their SS money is fun money.
