Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Does Exxonmobil refresh laptops and phones?

I'm an experienced hire with 3 years at the company, Does exxon ever evaluate and refresh the standard laptops and iphones? My iphone barely holds a charge anymore and my laptop is slow as he-l.

Just wondering if there is plan in place.

Generally your laptop must crash first. Then the replacement will have a backup of your old hard drive on it, which causes endless glitches moving forward. Do your best to keep IT in business.

You’ll be gone before the battery dies.

Heard a rumor that the Company will issue you a pager when your phone expires.

There is probably only a small budget for a new laptop now as 1.5 million in assets were stolen from the Spring campus warehouse over a year's time in 2018-19.
This happened as someone in mgmt decided to change processes on how equipment was inventoried. Bit them in the azz.

I have a company iPhone because I'm on call 24/7 dummy. Would you like to take it from me?

It's not that hard to get them replaced. Submit the correct form with approval. Or just leave it on in your backpack and wait for the battery to overheat and explode. Then wallah, new laptop.

Laptops are now 5 years from purchase date prior was 4 years but increased due to pandemic budget cuts. I know this is US policy at least and since most policies are driven from US probably applies globally too.

@kuy+1demdQaC I’d rather not have company business on a BYOD phone at all especially when they don’t pay for it

They pinch pennies on the laptops, load them with bloat, roll out disasters like the new proxy servers and take credit for saving money........while thousands of engineers browse Instagram while waiting for their machines to start. Good work BK. Take the VIP designation off the execs profiles and let them see what we live with.

Why do you have a company iPhone in the first place?

They do a laptop replacement every few years, company iphone is eligible for upgrades after 2 years but you have to request that on your own.

You can definitely have your phone replaced. How you request it may take a bit of sleuthing. If you are at the campus go to the support center they can usually get you fixed and help schedule a replacement.
