Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

inflation and Cost of Living

inflation up nearly 6% last month. Social sexurity checks will incfease 5.9%. I wonder if Wells Farfo will finally offer more than jts measly 1-2% wage increase tbjs year, or if we will just fall further behind in our ability to meet inflation and monthly expenses.

"Biden first exec order was shutting down the Keystone Pipeline."

You mean the pipeline that leaked 380K gallons of oil in North Dakota, just like those against it said it would?

Biden first exec order was shutting down the Keystone Pipeline. Gas has never gone down since that January day. We are now dependent upon OPEC for oil, not ourselves. Oh, and by the way, he put a lot of Canadians and Americans out of work when he signed that order. Gas has gone up 1.50 in where I live. It is expected to go up more. Some things, inflation, you can't blame on Covid. Gas was kept cheap under Trump.

@qtr+1diHfsgP pray your attorney provides good advice. As going after an employer can come back to haunt quickly.

I believe it was over 150k then no increase not 130. not sure if it was just for last year but I haven't heard on this year. I am sure directions will come soon as year end reviews are due next week and comp decisions not that far after. I hope they do away with the 150k, those of us on the coasts get hosed.

@msp no, it wouldn't. If this company screws me again, I'm walking.

I'm also consulting with a labor lawyer over another aspect of my WF employment that is questionable.

Salary rarely keeps up with inflation. It wouldn't make good business sense to pay more each year for employees you already have. It's easier to make promises, than to pay out. Wells Fargo is in cost savings mode, promotions will be enough to keep you from leaving.

No, you need to change jobs to get a serious increase.

Expecting a 5% raise would be a fantasy. That's not going to happen. Lucky if it's 2-3% of that depending on where in the range you are.

The messed up thing is, as working people we have it GOOD compared to the fixed income folks. SS is just supplemental income. The vast majority of $ sources that retired folks are likely to use will have sub-inflation earnings and they can't just 'leave their employer' to find a better deal.

We'll get 2%. Anyone that doesn't like it will leave, Charles will hire some more people overseas. Rinse/repeat until we get down to the employee cost savings they are looking for.
