Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I think they will have to become more flexible

The RTO has encountered great resistance. Judging by the atmosphere in my team, many people will find new jobs rather than continue to get used to the new normal in the office.

So I think BofA will have to change something as early as next year and apply some more flexible measures if they want to keep some of the best people who are already looking for a way out. Maybe I'm too optimistic?

I think they want people to quit. I heard BoA is in trouble. They don’t want to pay severance.

GS is still WFH at least 60% of the time.

Doesn’t seem like they will be flexible… I just don’t get their one size fits all approach that just does not reflect today’s reality.

This hybrid working is just temporary. Sooner than later all these companies instituting hybrid work schedule will recall their employees to RTO. BofA is doing the inevitable.

they've dug in their heels on the office.

  • Chase is hybrid right now even if JD is always saying otherwise (they are doing otherwise in the real world)
  • WF is going hybrid and delayed RTO indefinitely
  • CapitalOne is proactive and already rolled out Hybrid
  • UBS rolled out hybrid with much more flex options
  • Citi rolled out hybrid very early on the year
  • HSBC is hybrid and WFH
  • Barclays is hybrid
  • StanCharter is WFH first
  • Deutsche Bank is hybrid
  • pretty much all the regional bank (USbank, Discover, etc) are hybrid or remote
  • pretty much all the Banks in CAN are hybrid or remote.
  • ALL MAJOR tech companies are hybrid or remote

So it's just MS, GS and BOFA that are really behind RTO. I would say that's the minority.
There is reason to believe BofA will change their tune. Else, their alternative is to offshore as much as possible and be ok with mediocrity.
