URGENT: U.S. PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR EXEMPTION FROM VACCINATION MANDATE – NOVEMBER 1 DEADLINE

KEVIN COVERT | VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL COUNSEL, HUMAN RESOURCES

As we communicated yesterday, most U.S. Honeywell employees must be fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021, in compliance with President Biden’s Executive Order 14042. The Executive Order allows employees to apply for an exemption from the vaccination mandate based either on a medical issue (e.g., an employee’s medical provider has determined that the employee has a contraindication for the approved vaccines), or the employee’s objection based on a sincerely held religious belief.

Any employee wishing to apply for a medical or religious exemption may do so by accessing the U.S. Vaccination Exemption Forms and downloading the relevant form, which includes the applicable process instructions. Alternatively, employees may contact their HR representative if they need assistance accessing the appropriate form. Employees should return the completed form and other required documentation to their HR representative by November 1, 2021. Any employee who submits falsified documents or information in support of an exemption request will be terminated for cause.

After reviewing an employee’s complete application, the Company will determine if an accommodation is warranted under applicable law. The HR representative will communicate the Company’s decision no later than December 8, provided the application was submitted on or before the November 1 deadline. Possible accommodations may include unpaid leave and/or a regular testing regimen, mask wearing, social distancing, working in an area that is separate from areas where vaccinated employees are working, etc.

Exemption requests may be denied if (i) the employee’s application is incomplete or does not provide adequate legal justification for an exemption, (ii) any possible accommodation is unreasonable, (iii) it would pose a direct threat to the health and/or safety of the employee or others in the workplace, or (iv) it creates an undue hardship on the Company. After December 8, 2021, the employee will be ineligible to continue working at Honeywell unless and until they are fully vaccinated.

If the employee’s exemption request is denied or the employee refuses the accommodation the Company agrees to provide, they will have five calendar days from the date the Company’s decision is communicated to get a vaccine dose. Proof of that dose must be provided to the employee’s HR representative if the employee will not be fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021. Such employee must then be fully vaccinated within five weeks of the decision or will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of employment without severance. Even if the employee begins the vaccination process, they will be placed on unpaid leave of absence beginning December 9, 2021, until they are fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means two weeks have elapsed after the second dose in a two-dose vaccine (e.g., Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson/Janssen).

Please contact your HR representative if you have any questions regarding the exemption/accommodation process.

NOTE: IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT AN EXEMPTION REQUEST CAN BE PROCESSED PRIOR TO DECEMBER 9, 2021, ANY REQUEST FOR AN ACCOMMODATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE EMPLOYEE’S HR REPRESENTATIVE BY NOVEMBER 1, 2021. ANY SUBMISSION AFTER NOVEMBER 1, 2021, MIGHT NOT BE PROCESSED BY DECEMBER 8, 2021, AND MAY RESULT IN THE EMPLOYEE BEING PLACED ON AN UNPAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE UNTIL SUCH REQUEST HAS BEEN FULLY ADJUDICATED.

I myself was just put on an unpaid leave of absence. Was told that i needed to get the jab or I will be let go at the end of the month! Do I believe in GOD? Yes. I however didn’t feel that it was right for me to file for an exemption. I also don’t feel like it’s right to inject a test dr-g into my body. There’s so many of us that are out on a leave of absence now. Even if the courts overrule this mandate, I’m done. Honeywell no longer benefits me. Good luck to those that have bowed down for a company that really doesn’t care about you and a union that does absolutely nothing.

@1mbj

"just be coerced with your livelihood. let us inject something into you against your will.."

You are truly too stupid to work anywhere but HW. I will remember to laugh HARD when you get RIF'd, PIP'd despite your free PR efforts for the company.

anti vaxers - get over yourselves

shot = stay employed
no shot = bread line

if you're that pi$$ed off at HON, leave anyway

it's all a matter of choice, one you don't have to convince anyone other than yourself

be selfish and have fun talking with the other anti "whatevers" while you're at the unemployment office

Administration is presently mulling the requirement to either be circumcised or prove previous circumcision by April 1, 2022. Not a problem, since companies can enforce whatever mandate they want.

I'll stick with the righteous legal winners at Liberty Counsel who are already filing a massive lawsuit this week. The suit may even preempt us even having to file for an accommodation. Stating why you don't have to answer the private medical and religious exemptions shut down HR and legal at the hospital where my spouse works.

I'm going with the Rastafari exemption.
Jah is inherent within me and taking the vax may harm him.

HON legal has this right, they can ask for any kind of information from an employee as long they don't act adversely on it. So you can put in 'club of jokers' as your religion for an exemption and it can't used by HON to decline the exemption

What if I don't have religous beliefs? What if I don't believe in taking a vaccine that is unjustifiably being forced on me for reasons that logically do not make sense? Imagine working for a boss that threatens to fire you for not meeting demands that go against your freedom of choice. What a sad joke of a company this has become. Shove your vaccine and your dumpster fire of a company up your a$$. I wanted to quit this place a long time ago. Thanks for making it easy Karen! Merry Riffmas & Let's Go Brandon!!!

Religion should matter more than a Honeywell job. If you get canned pray to your Holy one for help. Holy one will take care of you.

@ynl. Pay attention. This message is from corporate legal. Decisions are governed by the legal department.

Lawyer up!! Good luck!

It probably not your religion that tells you not to get vaccinated. More likely you just don’t like being told what to do. So resign, lawyer up and challenge the rule. But don’t be a fraud in the name of god.

My guess is that exemption request accept/deny will come down to what your boss wants. Nothing surprising here, it has always been the HON way, from 9 block performance rating to relocation and promotions, there is very little logic and consistency. If you don't feel comfortable, do no not take the vaccine and apply for an exemption

The paragraph shown above is very telling. The Honeywell lawyers have written the statement that pretty much allow us to be let go due to no vaccine on Dec 8 at HR's discretion on their review of exemption applications that they may decide to deny. No severance, no unemployment payments (from what I've read) and one week short of receiving the 401k match. Merry Christmas to us.

For anyone actually considering asserting a religious exemption ask yourself is it truly against your religion or are you lying to yourself to make political point ? it it your faith, your god or that former guy who really tells you not get the jab ? If you lie about your faith, on the form or to yourself, then you should really give a deeper thought to your beliefs.

Wonder what will happen if write "choose not to answer" on all those questions and sign your name. Will they deny you because you didn't disclose your religion or is this form just a pressure tactic

The religious exemption form is a total violation of personal boundaries. Everything about this is. What right do they have to judge whether I am a faithful member of a certain organization based on whether or not I’ve attended regularly lately? And whether that has to do with my sincerely held religious beliefs.?

The form looks like it was written by a 2 year old not an attorney. But they have a line on the bottom for the HR attorney to sign. They gave people 2 weeks to address this BS? I hope a huge number walk. Personally, I know a couple.
