Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Additional Personal Holiday

I wonder what other benefits will be coming out way. Maybe raises will be better this year.

I will be taking Juneteenth off & will let all of my cr*cker colleagues know. Going to my local Juneteenth parade & picnic.

Signed, non-Black guy sick of the cr*ckers (whose fee-fees are hurt cuz their ancestors' hatred is being called out now) for saying the silent part out loud.

Maybe DW will apologize and donate all his fat bonuses to a fund to help those laid off and piped off.

Raises will be in January and will be 18-22% to make up for no raise last year, no 401k for a year, inflation, no tuition reimbursement, raise for this year, and to stem the attrition. Although 22% sounds like a lot, it just gets you back to zero. Of course, no raise for those NI and below. This year NI and below represents 12-15% of the employees, so even with the 22% raises, Exxon will be paying less in compensation than 2021, this will also be helped by the December layoffs and continued attrition.

@rad
I was here in 2006 and at least for me in EMCC, it wasn’t 12% it was 6%. It was a complete surprise and I don’t think attrition was as bad as it is now. Of course in 2006 we weren’t trying to shrink so I’m not holding my breath for big raises in 2022.

No one at XOM is a victim. You chooce to stay and work for a company that does not reward everyone's contribution. Other jobs are out there that do. It is that simple. Your choice to stay and work to make management and chosen ones richer.

@vev+1dlUwKLQ. I saw those boxes on a LinkedIn post and have to agree with you. Something is better than nothing. Some people will never be happy. I choose to be positive and take on the responsibility of making my own life better. I will not tell myself I am a victim. I can become the person I want to be and have the life I want. No need to wallow in misery and blame others.

In Bangkok we have gotten "CARE" boxes including yummy snacks and goodies only. Something better than nothing.

I wonder if this is a substitute for good raises. In 2006 Nov. 1 they gave all technical and professionals across the board 12% raises in addition to regularly scheduled pay raises and promotions. This was due to our salaries lower than competitors and uptick in attrition. My point is they can and they have done off schedule pay raises when they want to. This extra personal holiday is what they are hoping is a quick cheap fix.

It wasn’t a grand gesture by the corporation to boost morale, they had to do it to comply with the new laws.
