Why no universal healthcare?

If the government and corporations care so much about our health, why don't we have universal healthcare? Why isn't healthcare cost 100% covered? Why the super high deductibles?

How come corporations like Honeywell were the first to rush in line to get the essential exceptions to keep factories open? Essential for what? Corporate profit?
Why didn't they shut everything down if our health is so important to them?

They don't care about your health one bit and pretending they do by forcing you to get vaccinated is pathetic.

Universal healthcare is a sham. My Canadian relatives remind me what a sh1t show their healthcare system is every time we talk at holidays. That's why we don't have it, don't want it, and can't afford it. If you want it, go somewhere besides the U S.

@1ihe, retired people have paid money from each paycheck into Social Security and Medicare for over 40 years. It is OUR OWN money we are finally getting back. No, the drain on our system is funds going to help all the people who just walk or wade into this country and even if they do work, they stay off the books and don't pay into the system that educates their kids, pays their MediCAID (free to them unlike paid-into MediCARE), pays for them to drop more kids, provides translation services, housing, buys them vans, PCs, cellphones, food stamps...need I continue? And another drain on the system is the multimillionaires and billionaires that don't pay their fair share of taxes, as well as thriving corporations that take public c0v1d funds intended for troubled businesses, and lobby for multiple tax breaks. A few grandparents here and there getting $1500 a month are a drop in the bucket by comparison.

Healthcare insurance and lobbyists run government. As long as our political system works on this basis. All health insurance plans a dead on arrival. Especially if they’re a public plan or universal coverage. It’s all about their profits.

We the Special interest or lobbyists of the United States. In order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Stop thinking we the people. Never existed even when the country was first formed.

It is a question of who controls the purse strings. Do you pay out of your wallet, or does the government tax you and then pay for your healthcare? Some people rave about the social benefits seen in northern European socialist countries. Take your median middle class income (US) and see how much tax you will pay in Denmark. It will probably be somewhere near 60%. So the government gets 60% and you get 40%. They will "take care" of you. You can look up the tax structure for Denmark online. Sorry Virginia, there is no free lunch. By the way, all of this inflation that we are seeing is "stealth" tax and hurts low income those near retirement the most. Be careful with that government spending.

They don't care about your health, they care about you being able to work at the pace they want from you and not cost them anything in terms of medical payouts. They use high deductibles and stingy coverage to push the burden of staying healthy on us because we can't afford to get sick.

Because the company is self-insured, every penny they get to keep by not paying our medical bills is another win on Wall St. and another $XX mil in DA's pocket at the end of the year.

Before wishing for universal healthcare, talk to some people from countries that have it. A few years ago a Canadian told me it was 6 months before they could get an MRI. Their tumor was bigger by then. People from countries with uni care keep migrating to the US...if it were that great would they walk away from it?

US healthcare costs are hyperinflated by big pharma and the insurance companies. If those industries were better regulated and corporate chieftains like DA allowed the employees to benefit from a greater share of the money they make for the company, we'd be fine.

What a d-mb post. Corporations don't provide insurance (or any other benefits) because they care about your health (or your mortgage, gambling problems, etc.). Nor should they. They care, as they should, about hiring and retaining employees who will meet corporate objectives for the lowest possible cost. You do the same every time you hire a contractor, buy a car, etc. - get the best value you can for the least amount of money. Universal healthcare isn't about healthcare; its about confiscating the fruits of those who produce more and giving said fruits to those who produce less or nothing. Moreover, it is about maximizing control of the society. Once healthcare is controlled, then everything, absolutely everything, become subordinate to health including religion, g-n control, free speech, property rights, election laws, education, freedom of movement, etc.

Remember, as long as political parties can make it an issue to raise money off of, there is no reason for politicians to fix it.

With that said, the ACA actually got close until courts said the transfer payments were illegal. What the transfer payment did was review the per capita medical claims of each insurance company, and the insurance companies that had fewer claims had to pay insurance companies that had more claims. Once that fell, big insurance companies left exchanges to just work with large employers.
