We have layoffs and then soon after we have mass hirings. They might as well come out and say it - we're getting rid of employees we believe are paid too much. It doesn't matter that each of those employees earned their high pay, it doesn't matter that institutional knowledge is lost when they leave, none of that matters. Those on top think they're overpaid so they get rid of them and a few months later they replace them with people who're willing to work 60+ weeks for half as much. And it keeps happening. Just admit it, already.
