More KLTC/BTC expat in US

Guess they are coming here to learn about our sites/practices and workprocesses before returning back to home country and do the work remotely.

Are they competent in their work or require full support from us?

I wonder if these so-called TC “specialists” have the professional, subject matter expertise to be able to support EM’s world-class integrated sites like BT, BR and SG?
Many in BTC are from Indian colleges, while those in KLTC, from Malaysian colleges.
Comprehending colloquial accents would be a constant struggle over telecons.
Been there, done that.

They are training your replacement. Even if not, these guys will have higher priority in EMRE specialist roles than site engineers. You can have 8-15 years experience in your area of expertise and specify you wish to join EMRE every year in Career Connect, but when there's an EMRE specialist role open, they will choose a 3-5 years experience TC engineer to take that role instead.

Education is certainly equivalent.
Depends on how well they are mentored now.
Please do your best at that.

The story is true. Baytown, Beaumont, and Baton Rouge just got some KLTC expats.

Not a novel concept, EMIT has been doing this for many years. Lots of good people that come in from the GBCs, unfortunately many bad ones too but that’s our inability to recognize talent vs sycophants

Having global teams is our business plan and expats are sharing knowledge and learning global businesses. KL and BTC expats are mainly learning the business at this point

@dpn+1dn9sCk5 Depends perhaps if you're supporting or replacing.

Anytime I've supported a job remotely, it was expected that I come to site to make face to face connections, and see the work.

Why would I have different expectations for the engineers in these locations?
