From the company's perspective, the VSP was a hiccup, just like people quitting over the mandate will be. They don't care. Let's face it, for consumers, there are 3 big wireless companies that people are held hostage too. All are equally bad.
Any idea for sure what departments? Is field engineers getting hit? We have a ton of work.
I volunteered for the RIF a few weeks ago as I knew it was coming. I have a 10/28 call scheduled with management to make it official. I'm non-union and salaried. Oh Happy Day!

VZ Rif'd 10,000 people and outsourced 25% of theIR IT without a blip. What universe are you in? There has been a significant drop in quality across the board (and especially in IT) since that happened.
Look at what positions the VSP'ers now hold in the companies that snapped them up and tell me there wasn't a major talent drain.

Verizon had 10,000 people leave the business a couple of years ago and outsource a quarter of their IT (2500) team at the same time with barely a blip. You really think they are worried about the number of people quitting over a vaccine mandate? And yes there will be a RIF on 10/28.

I don’t see a reason for rif when we have all these freedom lunkheads willing to leave on 12/9. Some people will retire, some will lie in gods name, some will show everyone they mean business by leaving the corporation. We can Backfill whomevers job is needed in about 6sec so on 12/9 we are better than bau because we offloaded a bunch of free thinking maniacs who get told what to do by radio host

More than 50% of each department is having contractors/sow on H1B visas. They will RIF US citizens and will hire more of contractors/sow on H1B visas. Just check your org chart. Federal rule only applies to vax mandate not on offshore.

Having been with the company since Bell Atlantic Mobile, I'll never understand the point of letting go good people who do their job, show up and when the sh-t hits the fan, they are there and perform, total BS. Some of the older folks here, are not ready to retire, do their job and need to work until 65 due to medical coverage. I've heard all kinds of rumors, but I'm pretty sure the 28th is the day. It's true. I was told a few weeks ago that a RIF was coming. . . so I volunteered for it instead of just quitting. Was originally told off book by 12/24, but hope it's a lot sooner than that. I'm waiting for HR to provide my official release date.
