Thread regarding IBM layoffs

AK is no different than previous non-tech ceos

  • he has not done anything different compared to previous 2 ceos. Example : not cut middle management, not raise developer pay, still focusing on buying companies instead of inhouse development.
  • wasted huge amounts of time separating gts, i think he'll have to do it over and over until only the mainframes and related sw/storage remain
  • spending 34B on RH was his idea, if after this one has still spend 1-2B every quarter for acquisitions then what's the point of buying RH?

34B to get 3B in revenues?

Mention any other points.

Explain to me then why doesn't ibm report RH revenue separately but include that in c&c division?

They just make a statement that RH grew 17% but do not separate out the revenues from other software.

They have convinced naivetes like you that RH grows at 20% and so you extrapolate and do the simplistic math like you did there.

In reality ibm is shifting any growing software products into cloud division. They can blame for example infra didn't grow and it fits perfectly in their story.

Just think about the fact that why does RH only grows enough to keep the revenues flat.

Let me answer that because you aren't able to see through ibm bs.

It's because these are all financial games.

AK is worse because he thinks he is too good to be true. Typical woke garbage leader.

I think AK is already 59, he won't get 7 years. He may get 2 or 3 more years at most. 2022 will tell whether he stays or gets the boot... though with Kavanaugh at the finance helm he may devise some more financial engineering that will fool most analysts except Tony Sacconaghi.

Can't wait for 2022, that is if I still have a job!

The gang who keeps complaining about the CEO or IBM being "woke" and about vaccine mandates should then quit and find a job in a non-woke company. Maybe MyPillow guy is hiring?

I know you don’t want to hear this, BUT AK did decide to toss GTS overboard. Everyone including Ginni knew GTS was a boat anchor. Ginni didn’t toss it, because IBM is addicted to revenue even if it doesn’t make a profit. In her words they were empty calories. To toss 26% of your company is a pretty bold play given that Ginni and Sams go to market business plan was “services” Remember when AK came in, GBS was also floundering. I believe the board is giving him enough rope to hang himself, but they will not give him 7 years like they did Ginni. He needs to turn the ship revenue wise within the next 3 quarters, or he will be shown the door. The street has lost its patience with IBM and the cracks are starting to show. Fish or cut bait AK, because the clock is ticking

@1rxz - Lol, RH isn't growing at 20%. RH + "whatever non-RH stuff IBM decides to classify as RH this quarter" is growing at 20%. It's CAMSS all over again.

AK likes to consider himself (he/him) a "woke" CEO. Just another pandering virtue signaller to the SJW mob.

"34B to get 3B in revenues?"

I get y'all don't like AK or IBM, but I grow tired of seeing this from folks who just don't understand numbers. Red Hat was making around $3B WHEN ANNOUNCED THEY WERE BEING ACQUIRED back in 2018 -- growing at a rate of 20% per year. So for those of you who can't multiply a number by a decimal that's 3B * 1.2 for 2019 = 3.6B, then 3.6B * 1.2 for 2020 = 4.32B, then now that's the GD year 2021 4.32B * 1.2 = 5.184B. No, Red Hat doesn't pull in 3B a year, they pull in over 5B. If you're gonna complain at least be more accurate with the numbers please. Is this all worth the price tag? If RH can continue to increase at 20% for 10 years guess what that's about $27B total revenue more per year by 2030. Ain't bad for 34b if you ask me. If, they can keep it up long term.

Of course, he isn't. That's why he's the CEO and Ginni (the IBM Grave Digger) picked him over Jim W. Also, why Jim W. left. I'm guessing you're looking for confirmation to something you already know?

Competition? IBM is in a class of its own.

The competition must think it's useless to hire saboteurs, the CEO is already well talented in sabotaging the company. Goes to show that any mo--nic CEO is not completely incompetent if he has talent to ki-l anything he touches.

130+ billion in share buy back
10 billion + on soft layer debacle
paying ginni over 80 million plus for failure
no real development in software over 7 years
paying billion for someone to take the chip business - then suing when they IPO for 20 billion
get rid on people over a certain age or over band a 8, just to save a penny here and there.
the list that keeps on giving ----

and the board take out millions pre year for an absolute shambles..

AK was SVP of the Cloud division for 5+ years after he took it over from LeBlanc. LeBlanc handed AK a perfectly running division. In these 5+ years AK destroyed the division. I remember listening to his all-hands call in February 2020, his charts showed all RED.

Yet, this guy is now CEO of the IBM Corporation. That tells you everything you need to know about IBM.

He's a little man who has too much power. IBM Execs have long forgotten that it's the employees who are the backbone of the company. Nothing will ever change no matter who is in charge.
