When you retire, AT&T calls you a former employee. That is not someone who works for a year a quits.
Any discount is paying too much for crummy t service with no or foreign pashtun speaking support.
Just say NO. Support the competition.
OP here. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Some months ago someone had told me they were working on this but I guess it never happened (LOL like so many things at ATT).
I'm with those of you who say dump T service and use any of the competition. Two winners emerge from my research: Mint and ATT Prepaid (their $300/yr plan @ 8GB/mo). Mint is a bit less for a bit more data but quality of service is a concern (coverage etc).
I know many will say ATT's service sucks too and I hear ya, but in general we seem to come in just behind VZ but ahead of T-Mo in terms of coverage and such, when reviewed by 3rd parties.
AT&T gives no one a discount. No One!
Executives however, Randy & EDhead get free everything service, free use of Corporate Card, Company Jet and perks at Disney land.
I've heard of active (50% off) and retiree (25% off) discount programs. Haven't heard of a "former" employee discount plan.
I switched to T-Mobile after my employee discount ended. It is 67% discount for me, comparing to T.
Is this some kind of sick joke? Better deals for you at just about anywhere.
Even with discounts you can get better deals and service elsewhere than anything you can get at att

Basicly 30% off monthly charges on wireless, Broadband $20/ up to 100 mbps. and $35 for 100-gigabit. last I saw.
Wireless service discount is 30% for retirees.
I'm an active employee, and savings are significant going elsewhere as a regular customer. Look at Xfinity or Spectrum Mobile, Mint Mobile, Visible, etc. or any of the MVNO's. I don't know why anyone would spend more by using this great "benefit".

Because you worked at T you are not entitled to any discounts on products. Even T retiree discount is a laugh compared to regular prices you can find elsewhere. Go and search for bargain yourself since T is overpriced.
You are better off going with T-Mobile or getting the AARP discount
