Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

This will not end well for Fidelity

So many of our best people are working for our competitors now. They were happy to snatch up every single one of them. I guess some companies know what a knowledgeable and experienced employee can mean to the company and its bottom line. Fidelity will learn soon enough what it means to lose so many of them.

I know the last VBO group leaves effective 12/31. Any rumors of RIFs for those who didn’t take the VBO?

You must be employed on Dec 31st to receive share payouts and profit sharing. Bonuses are also paid in mid-Dec. So if you're looking to leave, giving notice on Jan 1st is the best, highest return, option. One which I plan to exercise :)

@3beq+1drHH2pB, you're clueless, or delusional (maybe both). I'm still here, slugging it out, and dealing with deadwood, D&I, over their ski's people like you every day. You're able to take advantage of the roads paved by everyone before you. Fidelity is on the downward slope with new "talent", with their attitude of "give me what I deserve". Good luck riding on the coattails before you. It will only last so long.

Again, if you guys are happy why are you still crying foul at Fidelity. Move on from this site and go party if it makes you feel good. Don’t doubt your selves and don’t make it look like you are happy. Let go of Fidelity. We will keep on rocking to the next level and make Fidelity even greater, something that you guys could not do because you couldn’t take the pressure.

Angry...how can anyone be angry. The package was beyond generous, and I am so happy to be out of the day to day intensity filled with politics, and a lack of respect for peoples personal and professional time.

I am so thankful for the VBO as I was more then ready to go...I have spoken with many others and heard no regrets from anyone.

For those still at the company...it is a generous company...lots of opportunities but if you are going to look around and blame everyone but yourself for your career/pay start looking in the mirror.

I left on 6/30 and I am the opposite of angry, most days whistling "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" while making more money than I ever have double-dipping.
However, saying "you guys chose to move on,” is so naive, it’s almost cute. God love ya! You crazy kids.
The elders could either take a generous package and move on, or be tapped on the shoulder later and told to collect our belongings, sans the generous package. Those who chose not to take the VBO in 2017, mysteriously went a-missing 1 by 1, thereafter. Would you really want to roll the dice on history not repeating itself?
I don't blame D&I. I don't blame Woke. I don't blame Fidelity. I blame my age.
Party on!

@2duz+1drHH2pB No anger here! I was a 6/30 VBO recipient and made the choice based on many personal factors (retirement savings, age, growing workload which was unmanageable) and couldn’t be happier! I see it as a generous gift for 35 years of service and have nothing but great things to say about Fidelity. Don’t lump all VBO-ers in the angry category, because there are plenty of us who are grateful and enjoying retirement and the potential to double dip if we choose. I will say, I and many of my colleagues saw the directional change in management (D&I - nothing wrong with that, but why the rush to the in-your-face implementation? And the woke culture that was a direct conflict with the conservative values the company has always supported coming in at break-neck speed). With that said, I’m proud to be Fidelity Alumni and would recommend the company to qualified family and friends.

Agree. It's sad having to try and get things done with D&I hires who are in over their head and due to depleted internal talent as well. It's not the fault of D&I hires, they're grabbing an opportunity presented to them, even if they are not fully qualified. It's Abby's fault for trying to make the firm woke. Agree it won't end well. More talent will leave due to lack of opportunity.

Why so much anger at Fidelity?? You guys chose to move on … move on and quit being so angry. Obviously you couldn’t take the pressure and now have the pressure on not having a good paying job. I sense regret big time.
