Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Anyone seeing resignations back filled with employee hires? I am only seeing contractors being brought in.

https://www.worldoil.com/news/2021/10/22/exxon-to-close-two-houston-office-towers-following-worker-exodus

“The assessment process is not a headcount reduction exercise,” Exxon said in the statement. “It is an annual process for performance improvement. Employees who separate from the company through the annual assessment process may be backfilled.”

BS. Then why are resignations being back filled with contractors?

Makes sense right, fire many of our highly experienced US staff then bring in contractors. I’d suggest this was part of the larger plan combined with moving work to low cost locations like India.

Check out the job search. All openings are “backfills” in other places: Moscow, India, etc.
DW is, as usual, dishonest and insulting our intelligence. It’s not a lie by technicality, but it doesn’t mean you’ll have help after half your team quits.

Instead of experienced hires we’re offering our better contractors full time roles. And I would presume we’ll bring in a few more contractors after. It’s basically an experienced hire that we get a trial with first. Some contractors are terrible but some are awesome. As for MSP, some can be good when you build the contract well, but in MANY cases the contracts we’ve written are sh-t. They are, understandably, only caring about the contract and metrics in it. So we need to write better contracts.

Contractor's or MSP either way you get what you pay for. Outsourcing is not the answer and by the time LT realizes it it would be too late.

@1rzh+1drb5aMz, agree! But keep in mind that's US reality, XOM is on a hiring spree in low cost locations. So, in DW's twisted mind, he's technically correct...

I'm seeing 3 different type of hires outside of your basic contractor:

  1. Retirees being brought in a contractor capacity
  2. Interns being brought in full-time
  3. People who used to work for the company and left on good terms and left for various circumstances (which has historically been rare).

The company seems to be going away from the experienced hires as many of those are now gone and seem to be focused on what they think will be stability. Unfortunately, the hiring process in the best case is 6 months. As this exit continues it will make for a challenging year upcoming for those that stay

No, but I’ve seen people who backfilled resignations resign themselves shortly after

Not sure if the prior post indicated Contractors are the p o s.
In that case, they is very wrong.
If they mean the system that fills these body-seats is thoroughly corrupt filth, they is correct.
DW's statements are fraudulent in so many ways over so long a time.
Watch him in congress. He'll hesitate to even say 'Hello'.

Need a body cry?

They’ll backfill DW when he announces he’s leaving to rest after all the winning and spend more time with his RSUs
