Backroom Position

How are we expected to retain Backroom Associates when their pay is 15$ and the job is much more responsibility than a merchandiser who gets paid the same or a forklift merchandiser who gets paid 17? No one wants to work back there

Associates complain that frontline associates are simply “cashiers” and should not be paid what they currently make. Since you don’t appreciate them, the next time you get your Sam’s share why don’t you give back the “membership” portion of it. Oh no, you won’t; nor, will you thank them for getting cursed out multiple times a day because they push the plus membership and you benefit from their efforts. However, you will complain because you are obviously understaffed and riding a forklift around.

Well im a tbc lead and this special order deal has been working me crazy and doing audits and cant keep anybody and sale after sale has been insane and we only got 19 a hour but other lead getting over 20, what a slap in the face

Only people really enjoying work these days are fresh and meat department leads, the tma lead only making 19 a hour, the same as the leads on the front end, while the fresh leads stand around on the bacl room talking and smiling....im really over this place

I like how ppl list their "responsibilities" trying to impress upon us how much work they have to do. With a little longer list you might have one as long as the gas station attendants who were begging for a raise until they got 15.

Backroom is ridiculously hard. Been here for 30+ years and worked a few different areas. High volume club and so many DC trucks and other trucks coming in. Now our PM guy is quitting and they will drag their feet opening a requisitions because they can’t even fill the dozens of req’s that are already open. It’s insane. And we get bitched at because we’re not making sandwich bales! But they don’t understand that we can’t make sandwich bales because there is so much freaking cardboard from the sales floor piled high on pallets all the way down the back hallway that you can’t even get to the plastic, unreal. And it takes until 11-11:30am before the merchandisers even finish the cardboard, oh and claims that is a tedious process that takes hours. Worst position in the building.

I do work back room and to me it is easier because I don’t have to deal with members 😉. Plus I’ve been doing receiving for 12 years so I’m pretty good at it. They couldn’t pay me enough to work the floor lol.

Hate to tell you other people but back room is NOT a “cake” job! We are responsible for EVERYTHING that comes in, all damages, vendor returns, pallet trailers, forklift maintenance, transfers, 99 supplies, service channel for other maintenance, unloading fresh, dc, soda, water, paper, li---r, etc, printing name badges, loading club pick up out back door, making sandwich bales, hazwaste, paying bills, processing recall merch and that’s just SOME of the things done by DAY CREW! Managers don’t do anything to help and will send associates back to ask us how to do things! So, YES back room should be paid more!

Ask to be moved to Merchandising, problem solved. But we both know you won't because in your heart you know you have a cake job.
