Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Airport but not office?

I’m at the airport, and there are a bunch of Chevron people here. I don’t get why this company can’t go back to the office but you can put your employees on a cramped airplane with a bunch of unknown vaccinated strangers. Lazy office mentality!

There has yet to be one confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2 transmission on an aircraft. I am one of those who has been travelling. And travel was never "banned". Since the HOU offices were closed last March, (and they were not all completely closed) I have travelled on 36 flights that include travel to Europe and Asia. If you are afraid, stay home.

@1aax Man you need to calm down a bit. Im guessing the loss of spending time with da boys after work in the office really has you down. Head on in to the office. Nothing is stopping you even if the off campus site still isn't the same.

At the airport you can sometimes get some man time as well if you know where to look but it doesn't beat off campus!

I mainly miss working at the office so I can go spend some man time with da boys after work at the off campus. From home my wife watches my every move but when in the office I can get the man time I so much enjoy. Let's get back in the office!

@1zfc, WROOOOOONGGGGGG! Rather than follow your logic, I’d say it’s more effective to let you go permanently and bring everyone back to the office ASAP. All others who share your opinion can work from home permanently….with severance.

Well the answer is obvious, if you get sick in the airport you cannot blame or sue the company, but if you get sick in office due to mandate work in office or someone in your house gets sick from you bringing the virus from work, the. Chevron is in trouble. Until kids get vaccinated work from anywhere but office.

The middle manager I work under is about to have coronary being a cheerleader to get folks back into the office. We’re officially back in the office in January and this guy is trying to get folks to come back now. Nope, ain’t happening. Perfectly fine working from home and don’t give a rats $&# if I ever grace the door of another of our “offices”. It’s making the middle management really nervous. Why would trade the comfort and privacy of my home office for a “collaborative workspace” aka cube farm? Really?

Ssshhh has anyone thought this might be a comment from one of those grubby little field people. You know one of those icky grime covered individuals that get that black stinky stuff out of the ground. Yes one those people that don't have the time to post irrelevant bull dust here about taking pets to work or having a little pr--k (in the arm).
One of those people who have to go to work by trains, planes and auto-mobiles to allow you all to sit at at home on your fat entitled behinds stabbing at a keyboard occasionally.
Maybe you thought we'd contracted those positions out but we still have some. They are called WORKERS!

I get it. I am a useless butthurt millennial myself who watches youtube and Netflix all day also and I have no desire to actually support myself or be a productive member of society, I wish to always be a parasite as I am today. What I don't get is how this is a layoff discussion. Do Chevron employees use the layoff boards as their own personal chat site since they have no one or no where else? Wow. just wow. That answers my question.
I will not be accepting the position, lol.

As an entitled, spoiled Millennial myself...I really struggle with this. On one had, I really love "working" from home because I can lie around in my PJs and filth all day watching Netflix and drinking coffee. But then I also love the office amenities and feeling like a successful professional when I put on adult clothes to come in and drink coffee, watch YouTube videos, perform small edits on others' PPTs to pass off as my own, and answer emails 3 hours late, before leaving an hour or so early for the day.

Can I just have both, please?

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE OFFICE TO WORK HARD! I've been working hard from home and got just as much accomplished as if I had been in the office. I just have more time with family and flexibility on top of being able to work just as hard from home. People need to drop the outdated idea you can only work hard in the office and management has to be looking over your shoulder at all times.

If work and the company is your life head on up to the office as its open but don't force the rest of us who can work hard from home up there needlessly.

Dude, you should try out the United non-stop between IAH and SFO some times. It is the Chevron-express! Take a stroll to the toilet and you have seen CVX powerpoints on half the laptop in the flight. I have seen it with 90% of first class occupied by Chevroid. Some people fly every single week between location.

OP your post makes no sense. I doubt that many CVX people are traveling for work these days. By the way, You are welcome to go into the office since it sounds like you have no life outside of work. Either that or you are one of those employees who needs face time and networking to hide the fact that you are incompetent.

As long as you're hitting your targets, who TF cares where you're doing the work? There is nothing special about an office building.
