Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Had Enough!!!

Seriously.I have just had enough of this company. I have worked at this company for over 20 years and have had my fair share of ups and downs, as well as Dell being very supportive over the years and also working with some great team members and Managers, however the last 2 years have just been a nightmare since the pandemic. Dell talks the talk, tells its customers that they need to be resillient and make sure they have proper support for thier customers end users while simultaneously pushing thier employees to the limit every day, yet have done nothing for thier own employees over the last 2 years. Quietly sacking people on the down low or pushing people out of the business for not hitting the most ridiculous KPI's. Dell dont even use half of the products that we sell to our end users as they are not sufficient or wont invest into the infrastructure. Every sales rep I know is frustrated and is suffering from some kind of mental health condition because of the micro management which is getting increasingly worse. Any of the actual good management who stand up for workers rights have been let go. Now the management structure is full of YES people who are afraid of loosing thier jobs and treat thier direct team members like children. If I hear one more time that going back to the office in the middle of a pandemic is good for mental health I will scream. Dell dont care about our mental health, it is thrown into every sales meeting. "Look after your mental health but dont forget to hit your sales target..." They just keep pushing up sales targets even though we have had massive growth in sales over the last 2 years and remind you, oh arent you lucky to even have a job or the old classic, commision is never a guaranteed when you dont hit target or cap you on any overacheivment. You just cant win in this game so I am getting out.

I would be interested to know if others are having a simular experiance.

Best of luck to you.

Also, take an hour to read Who Moved My Cheese. I think I was you before, minus the tenure, and the insight from that book really helped put things into perspective.

Hi @OP+1duUxDZW

I can tell that what you are writing is real for you right now and what you are saying occurs, especially the micro management and metric obsession.

BUT

This isnt a Dell thing, all companies have this issue, this is a manager that is doing this, a person. Ive been here before in Dell and it's not consistent. Thing about what you like about the org and the job and then why/who is driving this. Was it always like this? No, then change areas or roles.

If you do leave, keep it nice as you leave, there will be people around you that are aware of the environment. Dell always allows good people to come back.

Or take some leave till next year, with 20 years under your belt you will have a lot of long service. Reboot in Feb.

All the above can happen anywhere, it's not a Dell thing, this is a ambitious manager with poor skills that is doing this. The come in, max the targets and want more more growth growth so they can level up but it's only going to run hard for so long.

Hope this helps.

Stop being such a priviledged pu%#y, have some courage for once in your life and just QUIT! If you hate Dell so much (who has been supporting your lazy a$$ for over two decades.

@1qbg+1duUxDZW how about this person learns how to manage money and stops whining about having a PEACH of a job for 20 plus years.

Who sits at job for 20 plus years with 401k match and insurance and still cries?

A Dell employee.

this just shows how over staffed this company is.

Hi @OP+1duUxDZW

Do the basics that matter, meetings and reports and dont rely on getting 100% of your target every quarter, the maths catches up to you. If you are reliant on 100% every quarter to pay your mortgage and alimony, its not real.

Back your customers and champion them back to the business, same for your manager and your team. This is not personal it's just how work is.
