I think employees wouldn't leave the company if their company/manager/executives showed some respect & appreciation to their employees. Tell them how appreciated they are, and without them Exxon would not be what it is today. Employees want RESEPCT/APPRECIATION. Money comes and goes, but the feeling of being truly appreciated always last and even when you've retired you can talk about "what a great company I used to work for". If managers told their employees what a great job they were doing once in a while, I'm sure it would go a long way. Money is good - pays the bills - but respect and appreciation is the key to employees hearts. Happy employees are the best employees.
Give it a "+" if you agree. Let HR and the CEO/CFO/COO/C?? see this post to get them thinking about what employees really want.

Ranking groups: You have no idea who you are be compared to. Not supposed to talk about CLs and salary. My "representative" had no knowledge of me or what I had done. Have a feeling I was competing against SDMs or supervisors whereas I dealt with day to day ops and their impact on the bottom line.
Pre-ranking discussion, supervisor feedback was completely positive. Could not believe the great feedback that was submitted.
After ranking, turns out I'm NSI. Complete and utter surprise. 3 choices - PIP, retire by November 30, or PIL (Pay-in-Lieu).
Best paid vacation ever (PIL)! And after PIL ends, I already have other opportunities lined-up.
Almost 2 years or talk and words of praise for the dedicated employees that have gone above and beyond in these “unprecedented challenging times.”
So the reward has been mass layoff of employees, more work for those left behind, and training your replacement in a low cost center such as BTC or KLTC. And don’t forget having to deal with mindless middle management the regurgitate lies and the company PR line so they don’t get PIPed.
Word are just words. Time to demonstrate the appreciation of employees with meaningful actions - pay raises, job stability, opportunities,…..
I see people have started posting Handwritten BD cards by SVP on LinkedIn. Seems like a stunt to stop attrition. Where were those cards in last few years. I hate these a-s kissers on LinkedIn.
Appreciate me with increased pay.
ah the one that just announced full scale MSP. gave people 0.5 days off to cry? or to brush up their linkedin/ cv?
If you appreciate my work and respect me you’ll pay me what I’m worth, in addition to being a good human being. He-l even if you want to continue not being a good human that’s fine I’ll work from home and we don’t have to talk.
Being respectful and appreciative in a non financial sense would maybe make me accept 3-5k less and be ok. But I’m being underpaid by about 60k compared to the market.
If I was a new employee, I might be ok with an extra 5 days off instead as 10 days to start is actually kinda low when you consider we also give off the bare minimum for holidays.
Actions speak louder than words.
Firing so many productive loyal employees and cancelling Company Match then giving 80,000 shares signing bonus to a new hire outsider with zero contribution or loyalty to EM really speaks volumes.
And yet people on her complain about management recognizing teams and individuals with public recognition.
I am at the point where telling me how appreciated I am sounds empty words, considering everything else. So although nice momentarily, this is not what is keeping me here. Since I am over 50, the retirement package is.
One of my previous manager tried gaslighting techniques as a power play. Told me that nobody cares about the work I was doing. Ironically, it was deliverables that was agreed to on my goals months before. Mentally abusive jerk who is an expert at covering his tracks……but upper management is either oblivious or chose to look the other way. I guess the paycheck is the only appreciation that can be expected here.
I would leave for another company in a heartbeat for some appreciation and to be treated with respect.
They’d have to make the ranking process fair. The crooked system is sh-t and unjust.
My org (one of EMIT) gave us 0.5 day-off to show appreciation. Of course I am not feeling any better with this.
