Dell thinks everyone is easily replaceable, but that's not the case.
If by replacement they mean to replace an excellent employee who has the expertise, skills and experience, with an employee who has none of that - then it is true, everyone is easily replaceable. However, I would not consider bringing some mediocrity to the place of the best employees - a replacement. That is simply wrong.
I'm just wondering how much their terrible strategies "impoverished" the company through the loss of people with knowledge and expertise ?

This is a nobody-cares-about kind of knowledge; Dell does not have that many top notch kernel developers and C++ engineers to loose in first place.
No one can stop Dell.
You are replaceable if the company is willing to shell out the $ to hire better ir just as good
To think you are special or one of a kind is well at best juvenile and at worst haughty
It is funny but according to my experience the people who keep repeating the mantra that everyone is easily replaceable were usually the most useless people without whom the work place would have been better place.. In general the companies in which this mantra is popular are run by incompetent management.
If you truly are " the best employee" they wouldn't let you go, but and just saying " the best employee" probably wouldn't post such silliness on a layoff site.
I have a team of about 15 people in India, male and female. They are all wonderful people and they work hard. Give them a little guidance and they get the needed job done.
We H1Bs from India and Asia are smarter, have graduate degrees, are cheaper and work longer hours than privileged high school level educatated employees we replace. That is the future just look at all the high tech corps and upper middle class neighborhoods around town. We are here to stay
Innovation the Dell way, replace with lower pay employee....
Cost Reducrion
You are replaceable.
As long as a company can afford to hire smart people, you are replaceable.
Dell cannot compete on a salary metric. Hence they get lower quality from the applicant pool. Therein lies the problem.
