Question from Congresswoman Presley: what percentage of your revenue is spent in training your workers to work on renewable energy?

ZERO - ducking zero. They barely spent into any training for business as usual, let alone for something we don’t do.
We have no renewable business, and no plans to help workers transition to green jobs.

Zero.

Stupid question. A good engineer working for ExxonMobil can easily transition to renewables. Many have already done it.

Towards the end of the hearing, as when Presley was questioning, was the best.
Particularly hitting on DW and EM -
Beaumont love for employees, Darren's 2020 compensation, green commitments and one congress dude even called out 'Carbon Capture' as a stall tactic and fracking conjob.
Very precise towards the end of it.

This was all in the last hour or so of the OCT 28 hearing available on CSPAN for free.

A funny thing - and it's the first thing a new Congressman or Senator from Texas is told when they walk into the chamber: "If you're in Congress, you can't be sued or charged for anything you say."

Not the case with CEOs.

If you can’t pivot you should be PIPd. My whole ExxonMobil career has been pivoting and I’ve done it damn well. If you are an engineer you know how to solve problems and learn. You can build teams and pull together resources. You can pivot.

I’m a process engineer and I work in downstream, mid career. This means I’m used to conventional fuels as that was the focus when I went to school and when I started working. With the pivot (yes, I said pivot) to renewable fuels, I’m lost. So I turn to ‘google scholar’ for training. It’s the same but not really.

The company provides zero training to their refinery process engineers with respect to renewables. We’re left on our own and in silos.

This is auditable as there isn’t even any WebCat (ugh) training on this.

I guess it’s not a lie if you really believe it, or if you’re too ignorant to tell the difference.

Darren has been saying for years we have nothing to contribute to renewables, hence we won’t invest in our own.

If the corporation would believe in energy transition, they’d prepare the workforce for it. Shell is ending frontier exploration by 2025. For us, there will be PIP for over abundant and superfluous geos.

People are our most important asset, until they aren’t.

  1. it’s a bad question. Because why would you train someone in, say, HR, about green tech?
  1. we have a high dividend so we take some of the cash we would maybe spend on this and let shareholders do what they want with it. If they want to fund green with that then do it. If they don’t then they don’t.
  1. we actually do have some green business and some training in it?
