Changing the name isn't like removing a previous banner and posting a new banner. It costs a lot of money to change names in all the books etc.
So is there a change in strategy or just a name change to waste more time?
Carve out of loss making part of their business and keeping the areas in growth, makes sense surely

Renaming GBS will fix all their problems. Remember 5 years ago when they merged the names GBS and GTS externally and created “IBM Services”. I think this lasted about 2 months before they scrapped it.

If half the managers and directors there don't have a clue what the product and services do, why are they be considered consultants? He-l, of most of it doesn't even work.. JimMcGerry and QRadar sucks and the product is more than 10 years dated. Splunk is the MSIEM product of choice.
The new name is not as meaningful to customers as the old Global BS.
It is just a better name so it will be easier to sell them off once that is needed.
Because, give it 2-3 years and IBM will have to put IBM Consulting for sale.
The launch was 2 weeks ago. I believe it to be a good move. But all of our internal systems still say GBS and half our execs still say GBS and have GBS in their email signature. C'mon people.
