Thread regarding IBM layoffs

GBS Question

Hello all - please see if you can help answer this. I am increasingly realizing that I am getting constrained in growth primarily due to my non-technical program management experience, I've been doing it for more than 20 years.

Now, I am not sure if going technical is achievable at all given my age, and if so, which line should I go... Alternatively, should I move further up into Program Management, get PMP certified?

What are your thoughts...

You need a strong mentor, a network... It is hard to find one though...

You can achieve anything if YOU really want to. Age doesn't matter.

If you want growth you should definitely not be in GBS (or Global BS like someone else called it on this board).

PM is the same thing as a TL here, a completely useless role.
You do not need any skills to do either one, just need a friend.
