Use vacation days while starting new job?

If I have a job starting late January somewhere else, can I take my XOM vacation for 2022 in Jan/feb and then quit? Essentially be on the payroll for two companies at once but only working for one. I will have 33 days starting Jan 1 of vacation. I would tell xom ahead of time I’m quitting at the end of it and do the handoffs for projects/work etc before leaving. I don’t want to fu-k them over but also I want to be paid for vacation days.

If they aren’t going to accept that I mean the alternative is to take vacation and turn in my two weeks when I have two weeks of vacation left? But that seems like a sh---y thing to do.

Stay till January. Use personal holidays or lose them. Vacation pay for unused days comes in a lump check after you leave.

Make your last day early Jan (don't forget personal days) then get paid through that day along with 2022 vacation days. Start at the company day after last Xom day.

You a silly G00se, but at least you think of any twists and turns to get yourself ahead.
Sorry you are leaving. You're a perfect fit for EM.

@OP Don’t tell XOM anything. Use your PTO to transition and quit XOM no-notice the day it ends. Informing your current employer of your plans will not help you in this situation.

I know someone that did that and the old company found out and fired him. Then the new company fired him for being basically dishonest. Just quit and take the new job, and be happy. Just take your vacation before your notice.

I’m surprised that XOM didn’t remove this “benefit” with all of the people quitting. But good to know, I barely took any vacation last year to account for a team that had so many people quit. I’d be pi---d if they didn’t pay me for the vacation days I had to skip because of that.

You get your vacation allotment paid out, just make sure you spend the 3 personal holidays

Give them notice in January.

You can then take the days or be paid for them.
