Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Does the New Green Deal mean Chevron is odd man out?

It is no secret to anyone that the current administration is anti coal, oil and gas, and anything else that has to do with the carbon atom. The far left political extremists that are pushing a radical environmental agenda, that eliminates anything to do with energy derived from carbon, are becoming more mainstream. It appears that the people in Washington could care less about the oil and gas industry and would be happy if it just went away. The current political climate appears hostile for companies like Chevron that are dedicated to producing oil and gas. Does not look good for the long term survival of Chevron and the professionals that work there.

Ya, ya, this global warming stuff is all y'alls fault for pulling all the oil out of the ground. Just stop making more CO2 because it is very very bad!, but don't raise the price at the pump because mama likes to commute in her Cadillac!

Look at the headaches in the UJ during September. All due to successive governments eliminating hydrocarbons for power generation. Europe is in a worse place. There will be demands for impeachment if the issues in Texas this past February extended to the entire country. CO2 is not relevant; of course as long as people believe otherwise the nonsense of wanting to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere will continue.

Look, as long as these Big Corporations play ball with the “Guvment” they will stay in bed with them. Why do you think they are going along with all this?! They will be “cancelled” if they don’t. When the guvment is finished with them, they will be tossed aside.

Don’t despair @idb. Just because THIS administration and Congress is peddling this BS, doesn’t mean our industry is on the skids and will fizzle out of existence. If you truly believe that, you have a very short view of the future. Take it from me, the narrative about the Green New Deal is only to hoodwink those who are gullible. Although efficiencies will be made throughout the years and decades to come to conserve energy and produce less harm to the environment, I know that O&G will be around for a very long time. This talk about putting fossil fuels out of business is laughable. You’ll see an ‘About Face” to this farce all too soon, starting in November next year.

It doesn't matter what we do. We are like tobacco and coal mining companies now, perhaps worse. Even if we make great profits, we will be hated and the stock price will droop lower and lower. Management will despair and resort to layoffs as their only lever for action. IOCs will be driven out of business and only NOCs will remain as the transition to clean energy occurs.

Lowest lifting cost and lowest taxed operator wins, it will not be us, it will be an offshore national O&G operator with refining, petrochemical and intermediate production.

Global warming is real and we are a couple decades behind on fighting it before it is too late for our planet.

High oil prices will lead to a Red wave in 2022. Its a losing position for Dems.
