Thread regarding ExxonMobil Singapore layoffs

Who decides on our fate?

I'd like to know if it's people in management in America who decide who gets cut or is it our management here in Singapore? I'll bet you it's Americans and you know why? Anyone who works here would know much more about who to cut and who to leave behind. It's not in the interest of our management to get rid of people who do the best work. Americans don't give a damn. They want to cut those who earn the most and that's what happens. I think that's what's been happening.

As much as I would like to blame our "beloved" leadership in the USA I don't think the final decision on who gets laid off comes from there. The leadership provides general inputs on how many employees they want less on the payroll and in what parts of the company they need to thin down the employee structure, but the final decision is made here in Singapore. Generality speaking, the question of names of people that are yet to be cut appears somewhere in the middle management tiers.
