Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Record free cash flow. Rewards?

Chevron had record cash flow and people like Jim Cramer are buying up Chevron stock. Do you think employees will be rewarded especially after we have stuck around during this terrible transformation thats taken a lot out of everyone or will management hoard the profits? Or will management reward us will layoffs next year?

Usually cvx don’t think of employees. However, this time you get a reward, which is more work so we can keep our cost low for dividends, share purchase buyback and debts. Sorry, no promotions or salary increases.

Exxon just announced that employee raises will be under the current inflation numbers. It took them a while, but they've finally realized that the salad days are over for the oil industry, and it's all downhill from here. You know MW in SR realizes the same thing, so don't expect much of a 'pat on the back' next March. The way these cycles work, you need a couple of years of big profits before the big raises appear.

Far fetched Questions like these posed by delusional employees display how far CVX has fallen . Probably the same folks that tout CVX is the best.

likely saving up the cash to clear debts, share buyback, increase dividends or preparing for new energy investments. employees reward is last or not on the list at all

Management also needs to be thinking about the current heavy turnover and very tired workforce after the awful layoffs and all the chaos thats happened this entire year. Its not due to the pandemic but decisions by management. They need to reward employees if they want a chance of keeping anyone.

@1pim+1e4ej6UW Unfortunately with upper managers they pull the we don't reward for things out of your control but they sure as heck will punish for things outside of our control and dock bonuses for that (all while not taking a hit themselves). Time for major changes.

You need to correct our performance for price effects before taking any victory laps. Employees (and managers) are not rewarded for results outside their control (to the high or low side) resulting from commodity price fluctuations. If our stock outperforms the S&P500, then you may get rewarded. We are doing well against the S&P500 in 2021 but lagging horribly over the 3-year period.

@ytw+1e4ej6UW Sadly that is the case. Before the 1980s employees and the community along with the shareholders were considered important. Fast forward after the 1980s and the only thing management cares about is the shareholders. Its time for major change in this country before we devolve into a 3rd world country with no middle class.

Shareholders before employees. Its a fact of the times with all large companies. Not expecting any change in benefits down our level. I'm pretty happy having a decent job in these times.
