Looked at the pension calculator and was underwhelmed. I can leave and get a job that pays better and exceed pension estimate easily. Especially true for mid career folks in 40’s+ who no longer receive meaningful raises and can cash out pension and invest it. Retiree healthcare not likely to be differentiating as healthcare continues to be socialized and EM offering continues to be watered down. There are no longer golden handcuffs.

If you’re not HiPo/management, you will NOT get to retirement (55 yo, 15 ys). Golden handcuffs do still exist, but only for those that have value in this company, meaning exclusively the managerial class.

Waiting for Medicare for All ? You can keep waiting, it’s probably going to take longer than your lifespan. In case you’re right and it goes through, then your lifespan is going to be significantly diminished. Take it from somebody coming from a country with completely socialized healthcare.
Compared to some other operators, we are not competitive in terms of retirement benefits. Not even close.
