Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ATT Layoff Pattern

In my org, alot retirements have been announced. I think I'm seeing a pattern. A string of retirements, then layoffs (FMP), a string of retirements announced, then layoffs. Does anyone agree?

I can’t wait to quit ATT just to get away from the mental mid-ets. It’s all reactionary. Not a proactive approach anywhere in this outfit. I pity the fools that thought of this company as a career opportunity. It’s just a job.

Fully onboard newbies is far less efficient than keeping retirees on for a few more years.

The Csuite mentality is that everyone except themselves are all just fungible cogs in their glorious business. Use them, abuse them, toss them on a whim if you changed your mind; no worry, because there's always a long line of aspirants.

Once you see that, it's easy to understand the practices you described.

What makes no sense is that on one hand, we have the biggest build program ever for 2022; on the other hand, all these draconian policies to get people to leave. Sure, go hire people off the street and TDP's. People with wireless experience already gainfully employed by the other carriers. Fully onboard newbies is far less efficient than keeping retirees on for a few more years.

Well, these are the same id--ts than just the math to acquire DTV and WM. What do you expect, smh.

What came first?
a. Chicken
b. Egg

What I take from this is Executive Level mistakes are made, Billions of $$'s are squandered resulting in occupation/lower level management layoffs. Retirees are
denied promised benefits. and
3rd level and higher receive raises, bonus, retention awards.
Not hard to understand.
