How many mouths can T afford? What is the right number? Seems like we keep hiring, not sure why. Can't the company move existing employees around to fill positions instead of hiring new employees?

Outsource IT? IT is gone baby, gone. You may have some Project Managers, and Analysts but IT has been outsourced continuously over past years at this point.
Verizon has ~150k, ATT now has ~230k. Lets just guess the WM deal will reduce the total by ~50k. If you out source IT, that would get you another ~30k. ATT would be close to Verizon then.
I wonder if they will split out all the old stuff (copper, govt contracts, pots) into its own company?
Verizon sold all their copper years ago.
Just need to cut another 100K.
All of whom would be below VP level. Probably need to add another 1000 or so of them
somewhere around 140K would be competitive with the competitions. Just need to cut another 100K.
IMHO, too many C-Suite, BoD and M O R O N S like the Stink and Rat R A P I N G the company.
After all, who organized them, authorized their hiring, and inventing their S T UP I D streaming strategy that cost us $100B and ruined the company?
Too many feasts being served to vendor companies.
Ssim prolly hiring. Need more people to sit in chairs. Prolly gonna order more chairs too.
I work retail, no way in he-l im working out in the weather, you can forget it. Ive worked 10 years and have accumulated some of the nicest outfits evaar. I dress for success!
T needs to open some retail stores right along the southern border so they can sign 'em up as they're walking across. Grow the business and save some jobs. What's not to like?
They are really only hiring needed backfills, and in places growing or expecting to grow.
It's difficult to move employees from retail ecosystem to install fiber.
Yeah. Terminate higher paid and qualified employees to support & repair the antique equipment. Hire unskilled, unknowledgeable, lower paid new employees while hoping for a miracle in the learning curve.
What could go wrong?
We're currently in the attrition hiring phase. AT&T is expecting a lot of resignations, and retirements next year, so we want to be sure we have people to backfill these positions.
There really needs to be a focus on ensuring gainful employment across employees. There has always been so much dead weight at T in many departments.
