Work all you want during the shutdown. You still won't get that PTO back nor will you get paid the holiday pay. You will only get that after VP approval. Outside troll and a keyboard know it all.

No, it was sarcasm. I said don't put your hours in (because Cisco is doing for you anyway) and go ahead and work instead (giving Cisco free labor because whether you work or not, Cisco is paying you to do nothing for those days by taking your PTO hours away from you).

Only limited people with on-call exemptions will get on-call and/or holiday pay.

Cisco is doing it for financial accounting reasons. That’s it.
All the mental health stuff is pure B/S.

"The only reason they extended it by an additional three days is no one is using any PTO"

FALSE. You know why they did it and so does everyone else.

Then please fill me in. PTO is a financial/accounting liability and it messes up the quarterly and year-end earnings results. Cisco has to find a way to get those liabilities off the books and that's by making you (or encouraging you if you're outside the US) to take PTO. Because no one's using it, the liability is higher so they're making us use more to compensate. Many of the Cisco Check-in's, people ask if Cisco will increase the # of PTO hours people can accrue because they're max'd out and not accruing any more PTO because they're not using any.

What other nefarious reason besides pure capitalism would Cisco have?

If getting vaccinated is such a 'choice', why didn't Biden keep his mouth shut?

As someone said, don't put in your PTO. Go ahead and work those days.

BTW, the system automatically put them in for you. If you try to remove them, they have to be approved and your manager is probably unlikely to do so. And when the reports run, to verify that everyone has the dates submitted, they'll either re-add them or put you on a naughty list that's sent to your SVP, which will pi-s him or her off that his org showed up on the list, and he'll start telling his VP's to get it fixed, and they'll get pi---d off and they'll tell the Sr. Director's to get it fixed who'll, you guessed it, get pi---d off and tell the Directors to get it fixed who'll, yup, get pi---d off and tell the managers to tell the d-mb a$$'s to get their mandatory PTO submitted. No one in that management chain wants to look bad to their boss, and sh-t rolls downhill quickly.

Cisco has been doing this mandatory PTO since back in '08 or '09? It's been over 10 yrs now. You should be used to this by now. The only reason they extended it by an additional three days is no one is using any PTO because you can't really travel anywhere & have a fun vacation, and if you're not going to travel, then why take days off. It's too easy to do stuff during the day and work in the evening from home while watching TV now that you're remote.

It is your choice to work at Cisco just like it is to take the vaccine and nobody is being forced to work at the company. Put in your two weeks and live like you choose.
