Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Reasons to stay at Wells Fargo

Interested in the reasons why people who work for Wells Fargo are still there.

Certainly there are team members who are in good positions that they enjoy. But what about the rest of you...?

What are your reasons for staying...?

I’ve worked elsewhere and the grass wasn’t greener. Pay isn’t bad here, time off is good and I like most of the people I deal with at work. I keep my eyes open for opportunities, but thus far have not found a better option.

I see couple ppls mentioned mid-six figures. Is that 500ks? Anyone can make that much just by doing status update? Anyone can make that much come to this sh*t site?😆

I’m currently asking myself that question. I’ve been here for over 20 years so my PTO is good and let’s face it so is my severance if they don’t hijack that with red tape. I’ve moved around and had some great opportunities within several interesting groups that I had no idea existed. I’ve had some pretty amazing experiences and grown a pretty solid network. That said, my boss is toxic and I don’t trust them. With the new location strategy I’m stuck in this role so my only option is to stay working under someone I don’t trust who isn’t likely to go anywhere anytime soon or move on to a new company. It’s a tough choice and one I keep putting off because I genuinely enjoy my job and the pay is decent.

Honestly? Good paycheck and lots of PTO are the two reasons. It’s enough for me to overlook the miserable corporate culture.

I've stayed here for the past 15 years because I could work remotely. That was touted as a benefit that balanced out the relatively low pay.

Now if they force me to come into the office, with all the added expense that entails, without making it financially worth it to me, then I'm out.

obviously a resumption of no---e from our work spouses when RTO and better yet, offsite travel, resume.

It's not rocket surgery. I love my job, enjoy working with my peers/manager, and am compensated sufficiently. Not sure why I would ever want to leave, unless they mandate jabs. In that case I'll find something else.

I'm sure people on my team stay because they get paid mid-six figures to ask for status updates all day, pass work to coworkers who actually understand tech, and don't have marketable skills outside of WF.

Reasons I stay here:

  • Paid to be off for over a month every year.
  • Exempt position where the manager doesn't care if I'm instantly available, just that all the work gets done.
  • Flexibility that allows me to still have a minuscule part in my kids' life despite working most evenings.
  • Health Plan is pretty good
  • I have no degree, and I'm mid 40's, so I can't get interviews at any comparable salary despite over 20 years of experience in multiple roles.

Reasons I'm considering leaving anyway:

  • The work/life balance (at least in my role/shift) is great for me time, but bad for family time.
  • Tolerance of employees being unwilling to adapt when confronted with new/modern systems.
  • The amount of unprofessionalism that is not only allowed, but often rewarded.

I'm willing to take a serious quality of life decrease if it means a better personal life.

I'm here because it's good money for a semi-fulfilling job. Very flexible and short commute. Zero stress and drama.

Been here 20 years through all the muck. Get paid well, benefits/pto not bad. Maybe too comfortable to leave even though all the bullstuff, and there is a boatload of bullstuff, is as ridiculous as it gets.

Op, curios as to want to know why you ask? Do you work here? What are your reasons why you're still here and if you're not still here, why do you care?

I think it depends on where in the company you work. WF has over 200,000 employees and thousands of managers. I have friends in good situations and others in toxic environments. I have a nice manager, but the management directly above are newly hired and setting numerous strategies with no idea of the complexity. It is stressful.

I'm staying here only until I find a better work situation. The RTO plans are badly timed. BofA's RTO is worse. Why are banks in a big rush? I know 2 of my coworkers will leave if they push us into the office in Jan. We'll have to take on their work. Is this really the right time to make employees want to leave?

I’m waiting for my bonus to make a move. Between RTO and the new vax/testing requirements WF is no longer a place I am proud to work for.
My supervisor and manager are cool, but the leadership in my area is an a-s. I have zero faith we are being lead well, and the cr-p we are putting up with is mounting. But hey - have yet another DEI session and all will be ok right?
We can’t even get our system of record and reporting right, so I do not have the right tools to do my job. The last two years have been heading downhill, but the last six months greatly accelerated it.

The compensation was market leading for my group for a long time. The past 7 or 8 years, wages have stagnated and there has been a push to replace senior people with people much younger and cheaper. The result is that we have a lot of people that can now leave for competitors because our competitors have caught up on wages. This might not apply to others, we are a tiny niche you probably do not realize exists. (Not tech)

I have a good manager.
Most of the rubbish on this site is not true. For example, people talking about comp and they never managed anyone in CP&D.
The concerns for RTO, vaccine mandate, etc. have been politicized.
I get a great bonus and make mid-6 figures.
Full disclosure, I do not like the RTO approach or the CEO, BUT BofA isn't much better. We already know JPM is a nightmare as well. So, there are very few companies that meet the bucket list of all the complainers here.
