Recall News: Wait there's more

Sometimes events just speak for themselves. Sad performance and commentary.

The hazards: in affected vehicles, the driver may have to apply more brake pedal force and the distance required to stop the vehicle may be extended, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: rear brake linings.

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford Bronco Sport models produced between January 27th, 2021 through November 11th, 2021, at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant.

Number of vehicles affected: 65,441 vehicles consisting of:

65,429 – 2021 Bronco Sport models
12 – 2022 Bronco Sport models
The fix: dealers will replace the rear brake linings with a higher friction design, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on January 10th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 21C31.

Have a 2021 Bronco Sport and hear weird noise from brakes when they are cold; wonder if this has anything to do with that noise?

I predict that company will be sold off in pieces very soon. They have nothing to offer of value anymore. Shame.

Went from “Built Ford Tough” to “Tough to buy a Ford.”

Tailspin.

I'm confident the ES spec clearly states the requirements, but sadly, it's a supplier issue and we all know that nobody checks the supplier parts until it's too late. Once an issue has been discovered, then it's up to someone to decide if it "OK" to use those parts that have already been installed. We could never shut down an assembly line because of something like that. Oh, but wait a minute, brake shoes/pads are a completely new invention for 2021... Chalk it up to a learning curve. Have seen this all the time at Transmission, where parts come in that aren't to spec and the higher ups immediately want a stackup to check things out. Fits arithmetically, then it must be OK.

Never enough time to do it right but always enough time to do it over.

Certain Bronco buyers are asking why can't this performance not be validated prior to me buying one? Anyone else see a cost save as a likely root cause here.
