Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

People here develop thick skin over time

I made the jump off that sinking ship a little while back. Because of the toxic work environment at Dell, my new position has been relatively easy. I did have to catch up on the new tech, but I am doing okay there. You don't know how sick the Dell culture is until you get out. I was abused, targeted, harassed and attacked by weak managers and insecure engineers. In the end, I outlasted all of them, reclaimed my reputation and then found another job. It is a great thing when the company you work for treats you as a human.

@cphr+1dUujsQJ: I think most have this or not much better experience at Dell. I'm almost certain that any new job is much easier for everyone after they leave here?

Dell’s 2030 plan is hire primarily women and minorities regardless of qualifications. Worst place ever worked.

If DELL hires more women and minority it will become much better company which will be diverse and inclusive. Even now DELL has very competent Chief Diversity Officer who has grand mission and drive which will bring DELL as great company in this century.

Nice comment, they aren't. Ive been trying to get them to hire in diversity for ages and the running joke is "no pe--s no payrise".

During my last few months at Dell, I heard the phrase “Too big to fail” repeatedly. There are people who actually think they are working for a company that is indispensable. Talk about deluded thinking. Dell has no cutting edge tech, buys other companies to raid the brainpower (which inevitably leaves) and someone else builds the same stuff with better results (Nimble, anyone?). When I first started there it was okay, but by the time I departed, it was mean, ugly, stupid and dysfunctional. Not sure what the timeline will be, but Dell will begin to be parted out and probably disappear in a few years. Will anyone actually care?

I think Dell will fold the shop soon, much sooner than some people could imagine..
