This acquisition will allow IBM to strengthen its capabilities in Australia and New Zealand, as SXiQ is one of the leading providers of cloud infrastructure and applications in the region and serves industries like financial services, consumer products, energy, healthcare, and the public sector.

Seems IBM is buying up a storm these days.

A minute's silence please for our fallen brethren at SXiQ. Another company that will disappear into obscurity, its staff treated with disdain and its products kludged and bodged into the IBM "cloud".

NOTE they are focusing on consulting around specific industries. That means the overlapping parts of IBM will be discarded (think legacy cloud) as IBM has gone all in on the new hybrid cloud strategy. You don’t spend 34 billion on Redhat to essentially not use it.

When you can't grow revenue organically... well, you have to buy that revenue somewhere!

Expect a lot more acquisitions going forward... that also means a lot more layoffs are coming up.
