Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Exxon in danger of being next Kodak or blockbuster

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-31/calstrs-says-exxon-in-danger-of-being-next-blockbuster-kodak

With the way the corporation only cares about the next 6 months to a year in terms of their staffing, project outlooks, etc. and very slow to adjust their corporate strategies, adopt technologies, this result isn’t far off. May not disappear but certainly drastic changes could be in the near future.

They could actually do a vast amount of work in the whole “energy” industry. Many years of ignoring opportunities, utilizing their staffing resources instead of wholesale PIP, layoffs, there could be implementation in broader energy arenas. Really though the biggest issue is senior management to CEO creating a horrible toxic culture.

@ylt+1eBnY4Sw what’s left of GE does this *now - they languished for decades before becoming what they are today, and EM is unfortunately at the start of that cycle

GE actually keeps up with technology and innovation. The only thing XOM truly innovates is how to PIP and outsource key site operations functions.

I've got dibs on the last Exxon station in Louisiana.
Need to replace those 60-yr-old tanks and brush up the 'Esso' sign.
But maybe I'm good for a Fox interview.

Very likely as XOM has become nothing but a management laundering scheme that lives or dies by the price of oil. Just a way for management pets to get rich via this corporate kleptocracy. Shame really.
