Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Be ready for a Jim video

A video is coming from a Jim. Probably in the first two weeks of January. He's going to outline that the Ford+ plan means that involuntary separations will be necessary later this year. SRD from 2019 redux. They didn't get as many as they wanted take the packages.... So the next step is layoffs.

Doesn't matter. If the federal mandate is struck down, Ford will not be able to afford to enforce their own mandate and hemorrhage employees to the companies that do not. It is already impossible to hire people.

And do not believe the 82% figure for vaccinated employees. That was a "get with the majority and comply" lie.

I hope you’re right but I haven’t seen anything to indicate a private company can’t mandate on their own if the Court does strike the federal mandates down.

Last poster, I'm not so sure. Bidens mandate is about to get the sm--k down by the Supreme Court. Ford will be in a precarious situation. I fully expect them to hedge on the mandate, especially since its becoming a moving target with boosters.

No, it will be SRD part deux.

It will be after the dismissals for non compliance of the mandate. With a sad face Jim will say he’s sorry it came to this but they had no choice, the health and safety of employees come first , and then quote Red Green with “ we’re all in this together”

After the taping he and Bill will have a few drinks , laugh it up , high five each other , and start planning the next way to stick it to salaried employees.

@1swz+1eCAqxzh,

ACA (Affordable Care Act) depends on income NOT savings. For a family of 3 with income up to $87,840, you would get some level of subsidy.

Well, the first global huddle is in about two weeks (1/19) so maybe the announcement will be made at that time. Or maybe the fave whipping boy slash purveyor of bad news Kumar will let it rip on his first Building Ford + meeting next week on 1/13.

Either way, I literally can’t wait. However, it the past mass layoffs they usually wait until end of first quarter then execute the plan by end of 2nd quarter. Even the massive failure known as SRD by Professor Moonbeam followed that general pattern with some layoffs extended into early 3rd qtr due to poor planning.

I read the comment from the people who are pension eligible (under 65) and wonder how they will fund their healthcare costs given the major change to the retiree medical benefit package this year. This will become even more expensive if there are family members.
I left last year and have the option to purchase a Cobra package once the severance medical runs out. My single cost is $382 per month. I can only imagine what the full cost will be to those "walked" out the door if that happens. I'll be 65 by the time the Cobra runs out so and will go on Medicare.

They did not offer it to all skill teams because this round of cuts will be directed at the old line skill areas that do not figure so much in future plans.....like traditional vehicle development areas, such as anything to do with ICE vehicles. Also the back of the house areas like accounting, finance, Ford Credit, IT areas NOT associated with BEV and AV, etc.

Ford, like some other automakers, is betting big in BEV and high tech, so those people that work in those areas NOT supporting the future are the areas being targeted. Does this mean people working in Ford + "Ford of the future" areas are completely safe - no? It does mean it will be a lot less likely if they can make their numbers in other areas first. Also will really hit agency and Purchased Services areas hard, too, from what I have been told by an LL that works in planning in the Business Office of PD/BEV area(s)....those will be hit no matter what areas they work in.

Awesome plan - hopefully you can carry it out!

Seriously, tho, most of the time you know when it is about to happen. At any rate, if you do get word, if you what to fu-k with them a bit you could file for medical leave or (unpaid) personal leave. If you can work a medical, you could get full pay for at least two to three months with little questions asked except to go to the doctor every now and then. Who knows what might happen - they might have to move on to another person to let go, or at the very least get back to you on it.....and the you would have had a two month paid vacation.

If I can figure out which day(s) the involuntary cuts are made, I will dress up in a tuxedo, top hat, and cane. Just work as normal until they come for me.

Kinda hard to take an offer that is not offered - my department (VESC) was specifically not allowed the offer.

What this tells me is that people that work in areas & departments that were given the offer are the ones that have to worry, as those are the areas that are going to be cut due to not making their numbers….

Exactly as a few others have wrote here - I’ve got nearly 30 years in, asserts (physical that can be sold) totaling nearly two million, a pension, and a 401k at 3/4 of a million.

So what? I’ll take the involuntary with the 9 month severance, enjoy some extended time off, then file for retirement - and take my pension in cash. No one wins a prize for being the last person off the Titanic.

I will bring my dancing shoes and dance out instead of being walked out by the LL.

Funny they talk about reduction in NA! But continue to staff Mexico & SA. So, what sense does that make? So, anything Jim says I do not believe. Look at all the work going down there. Interior trim, Now PT Calibration. Tired of it get it over with. I plan not to buy any future product. loyalty is a two-way street.

Believe it when I see it but it still wouldn't surprise me... I did, however, hear we didn't get the numbers.

They're just looking for a false pretense to help them message it. And we didn't see ourselves being set up?

They...

  1. Didn't offer it to all skill teams last year
  2. Were selective to the groups and areas within the skill teams
  3. Dialed it back significantly from 2020

Yet let's keep the hiring and promotion spree going. Let's stop pretending this nonsense is anything more than blatant age discrimination.

Oh thank God I got a low achiever PR last month. I'm safe.

Best of luck to my achiever and top achiever coworkers.
