Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Sick

Be sick in this company does not mean anything? I am new and been sick and covering someone’s vacation.

I told my boss and he said…you can work from home.

WTF????

I have used a lot of sick time over the years and never had an issue. If anything they made sure I didn't come back to soon. Call MOH its not that hard.

I had cancer a few years ago and was asked if I could work with laptop during chemo. This was in Irving.

If you are sick enough not to work talk to MOH. They are doctors who have taken the oath and will stand up for you. I’ve seen it done successfully before.

Had problems with onset of carpel tunnel a few years ago. The manager at first showed caring, but soon showed true color behind the scene. Started pressuring me to say that it was a sports injury and even accused me of working without proper ergo. Even wanted pictures so she can personally assess. Total psychopath! Finally had to say that workload was unmanageable due to antiquated system and that I need to back off time on the computer. Medical said the same about limiting computer time. This was my first taste of ExxonMobil management. Of course she was promoted so to crack the whip and te--orize more people.

Before I was hospitalized my boss told me to take my laptop and get my work done there. It was so terrible. Fortunately after I recovered I was recruited for a better job at another company (30% pay increase).

@OP You should have at least 40 hours of sick time. Use it, and don’t work during it.

When you feel better, start looking for a better job.

What do you mean by sick? You can't work from home but you are playing on your computer and carping about it here.

Care and human behaviors are pure farce in this organization. Donkey managers tout policies only when the top asks them to tout it. The only agenda for everyone from top to bottom is to try to progress their sickly careers within EM.

Care and Ethics is something you will not find here

Unless this is your first visit to this board, you shouldn’t be surprised. You had plenty of warning and should have taken a job elsewhere.

It’s because your boss don’t care. Even though Care is one of our Core values, it’s not really practiced… and never will with DWW and TG at the wheel

Yeah, just tell him that you're actually sick and aren't up to it. Period.
