Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leadership dysfunction

Why can't we get a terrific leader at T like John Legere? He is an excellent leader that seems to have earned the admiration and respect of his employees. We sit here at T with bottom of the barrel leadership, it just doesn't make sense. I don't think I would be wrong in suggesting that over 90% of the employee base views Stankey as a complete loser.

this Legere guy is no star. He's the luckiest mo-o in business history. T-Mob was dead and buried and then ATT came to the rescue to bailout a toast company. T-Mob was months away from bankruptcy protection. Everyone got rich (including the ATT fools that made the blunder).

The dude is bald, has long stringy unkept hair, and uses the f-word every other sentence on all-hands calls. He is an ATT reject and a very lucky person. Let him go to Dish. They are collecting losers.....

Look in the mirror if you are seeking a LOSER - that would be you JERK

Hate your job, this company, or Stankey? Leave! Oh, and don't let the door hit you in the a-s.

Looks like it was already mentioned, but you should be aware that he worked for AT&T previously for right around 20 years and was an executive (President) before leaving for other opportunities.

Kind of like when AT&T was the exclusive carrier for the first IPhone launch?

John Legere was/is an id--t who happened to be in the right place at the right time, when T leadership-Randall and Stankey made the arrogant failed bid for TMO and lost, giving TMO Billons & Spectrum, it was easy to take that cash and buy customers, anyone of us could have done what Legere did.

You realize he got the phuck out, right?

and you realize he ran away when AWS' "One Rate" push led to massive over subscription, huge network bottlenecks and an overall cr-p customer experience, right?

Think about it. If you were a CEO "Leader" type on the outside looking in, would you work here?

Legere CASHED OUT at T-Mobile when the deal with Sprint closed. Sievert (also former ATT) is now running the New Sprint...err...New T-Mobile into the ground.

Au contrarie … it’s not trolling when someone responds to your comments. But I guess it feels like it when others don’t agree with your BS.

Despite all the negativity here about Legere, he, or anyone else for that matter, would have been better than the Ratty or the Stink!

Legere managed to get a $5B gift out the Ratty and look where TMOB is and where Toxic T is and tell me who is the worse CEO!

Lots of trolls here either from HR, ReputationDefender.com, or people that didn't work @ Toxic T for the last 7 years.

Legere…that’s funny. Former trash talking, illusionist, magenta shirt wearing, long hair, and yes ex ATT employee who happened to be an ex-finance guy. I hear since his ‘retirement’ the 60 something year old is writing cookbooks and gaining approval from well known people like Martha Stewart.
Legere is a chameleon and flows as the wind blows. I predict he’d be a good political candidate.

One can gauge the level of dysfunction by the amount of good leaders leaving the business in next sixty days. The new year and a hot job market will open the flood gates for the great resignation. No amount of retention bonus will keep your good workers, just keep keeps the cr-p.

John Legere? T-Mobil has been censoring text messages with links to articles on Gateway Pundit and God knows what else They deem are “inappropriate” yeah, he would be perfect for T

To answer OP's question, because bringing in a competent outsider would be an existential threat to T's entrenched interests (Stank, the former C-suite, and the board).

And therefore they will block it with all they have.

The chainsaw is deceased so that's out. Best next thing. Visit a re-hab center, clean him up, suit him, spray some old spice on him and turn him loose. Cannot do any worse.
Alternatively since this company is Woke, hire Heels Up for $25 million and turn her loose.
She's done wonders in Washington.

Hey. Now wait a minute. Stankey is the smartest man in the room. He know more about TV, making movies and turning t stock around. Only problem is it's the wrong direction, but he didn't lie- he has demonstrated that he can turn the stock around, wish I could read his A & D.

Most all the leaders were grown up in the legacy Bell culture. Strictly looking a making money. Top leaders spend their time on what's next, not what happening today. That's left to the lower staff. AVP and below. Stankey and his directs are working on what's next in the mission to deliver to the shareholders.

Legere wasn't a great leader, he was a hype man and cult leader. He masked absolute dysfunction and massive running up debt with pink shirts and attempts to be edgy. He was basically a Tic Tok leader. I'm surprised he didn't push some version of Hyperloop.

He did nearly 20 years at T. Then went on to leadership roles with Dell, Global Crossing, etc. before heading up TMO. Regardless, he came in from the outside to TMO to take the helm and turn things around there.

That's the thing that never happens here. No one comes in from the outside. Homegrown boring white guy in Dallas replaces homegrown boring white guy in Dallas. Rinse. Repeat. And scratch your head and wonder why nothing changes.
